“Are you filming me,” Arilyn laughs, once she's spotted the other's camera. “Are you going to film our whole trip? Gonna make a vlog out of it or something,” she teases them lightly.

“You know if you wanted me to believe you, you should’ve done a way better job,” Arilyn announced with a meaningful look. Her voice was rather loud in an attempt to come out above the noise around them. “I know you too well not to know when you’re lying. But it’s like you’re not even trying this time.” Perhaps having a conversation like this in a club wasn’t a good idea.
“It’s like you have no idea what the consequences of your actions are,” Arilyn exclaimed in an exhausted tone. “You just do what you want and expect that everyone will be just fine. Well, news flash, that’s not how life works. Your actions will always have consequences. And sometimes those consequences are very negative for the people around you. The people affected by your decision.”

"Can’t you see I’m already miserable? There’s no need to rub that in my face. If you wanted to see me down in the dumps, congratulations. You already got what you wanted. So can you please just leave me alone?”

Arilyn wasn’t the type of person to get drunk a lot. She enjoyed her beers and her wines, but always responsibly. But tonight was different. The week had started off horribly and all she wanted to do was drown her sorrows. So there she was, drunk out of her mind, wrapped up in a rant. “I blame myself for what happened. Y’know... with that ex-Yakuza dude? I just...I know he made his own choices. But I should’ve known better. Known better than to get involved with someone like that. Then he wouldn't have felt the need to threaten me. And I feel even worse because it made you rethink going to the states for your family. I’d hate for something bad to happen to you or your family because of me. You mean a lot to me. You’re one of my closests friends, Garret.”

“I thought I’d never see the day that I’m the responsible one,” Arilyn mused with a small chuckle. “This is the kind of character development I didn’t see coming.” It was typical of Arilyn to try and make light of a serious situation. It was the easiest way for her to deal with the weight of such situations.
