Hayley practically bounded down the steps towards her friend. Coming to halt in front of them, she jumped on the spot. “Guess what,” she greeted her friend with a wide grin. A grin so wide it would put the Cheshire cat to shame. “Guess what happened today!”

“I was only trying to help,” Hayley tried her best not to cry. But as she continued to speak, her voice became shaky. “I didn’t mean to hurt anyone.” Tears began to pool in her eyes. “I thought I was doing the right thing. I'm so sorry.” Her bottom lip began to quiver as she tried her best to keep her composure. Crying wasn't going to make things better. Certainly not if it was going to make it difficult for her to make ehrself understood.
