Oscar leaned forward, adjusting his jacket on his shoulders as he looked at his reflection in a mirror on display in one of the mall shops, keeping his eye on someone browsing nearby. He’d spent the last few days on his own, drinking at the Clowder, playing blackjack with poor souls at his place and earning quite a wad of cash. He’d come out that day to pick up a few things for his apartment and found himself wandering into the mall, seeing if something could catch his eye. And something certainly had. A pretty redhead admiring some jewelry at a kiosk nearby. Finally pleased with his appearance, Oscar turned to approach, finding instead someone else standing there. A tall someone with curly hair and smudged eyeliner. Oscar felt his jaw clenching as the temptation to turn and walk the other direction crept into his mind. No, he couldn’t do that. He’d been standing there long enough to have been seen. But of course, the skeleton man wouldn’t have approached him first, he was going to leave that to Oscar. The ass. He took a deep breath, preparing himself for the plunge. “Jack! What a surprise, I didn’t expect to see you today.”
