Why no one talks about the fact that in The Movie, right before Drink With Me, Grantaire touches the old paino notes like he knows how to play? Lets make piano player Grantaire happen.
Grantaire who always wanted to learn how to play the piano when a child, but his parents saw it as a waste of time and never really let him do it.
It was just when he moved out (17 yo him) to live alone that he got to save enough money to buy a cheap keyboard. Grantaire was so ecstatic about it, he wouldn’t sleep until everything was plugged in and working. Later that same week he got it, Grantaire found a simple pop song to play, and he did so until his fingers started to cramp, tho nothing could beat his happiness.
10 years later (27 yo him) was living his life playing throughout all types of obscure bars. His friends, Bossuet and Eponine, didnt miss one show (they were both proud of their little duckling). He played all through Paris and couldn’t be more filled with joy.
But it wasn’t until he first played at this one bar, Corinthe, that he knew something in his life was missing. After finishing his performance, he went up to the bar, as usual, to get some drink before joining his friends, and this guy came up to him, he noticed, without turning his head. People tended to approach him after his shows but he never knew if they were going to criticize his work or praise him.
So there he was, at the barstool fetching a drink, when this guy sat next to him.
“You are the guy who played the piano” he stated
“Hmm, yeah thats me” oh no, here it comes, he knew his performance wasnt one of his best, he just hoped the man wasn’t too rude—
“I really liked the way you played that one Tchaikovsky song. I can’t explain it— it was very touching, thank you.” Surprised, Grantaire finally turned his head to look at the man sitting next to him and completely forgot how to breath. His hair was a beautiful set of golden locks, taking every direction possible and staying impeccable in place. He had a bealtiful, almost angelic posture and image, was Grantaire hallucinating?? His eyes —even his eyes were perfect— were a deep blue, of a very intense color.
“I, hm, thank you?” He said. Grantaire was caught off guard, he never was caught off guard, panic was rising in him.
“Enjolras” the man —Enjolras— said, a little amused.
“R. I mean- Grantaire, but my friends call me R” oh gosh what had he done??
“Nice to meet you, R. I hope to see you again sometime” and with that, Enjolras left.
After that, Grantaire decided we had to play more regularly at Corinthe’s.
