I just want to ask: was the diner party an intentional historical reference to that expedition that ended in cannibalism? Because oh my god if that was intentional-

I don’t think so. When Rob, Jamie, and I were coming up with the party for “The Cookie Candidate,” they wanted a name that was lengthy and nonsensical, so I suggested the “Democratic Independent Naturalist Republicans, or the diner party...dinner party?” That being said, I’m not sure, because Mr. Hayes’ saying “diner party” sounds awfully close to “Donner party,” and I both intensely believe that I would and that I would NOT have missed that connection. That being said, I now like to believe that there was originally a third faction of the DINR party called the “donner party,” but it quickly succumbed to infighting and ate itself from the inside :D
