Summer’s last stand was a long weekend by the lake in beautiful Magog, Canada. I have no restaurant recommendations for you, because this food loving girl did what she loves best - cook! After a summer filled with loss, stress, and anxiety, I rediscovered the simple joys of preparing food for those you love (all 12 of them!) and all that goes along with it - menu planning, prepping, washing, chopping, baking, sautéing, plating, wash, dry, repeat. Even the challenges were a memory - the near-meltdown in the grocery store after navigating grocery shopping in French, in the metric system, with 2 hungry whiny kids in tow; the “gourmet” Airbnb kitchen that had the fancy Wolf stove, subzero fridge (all with half-working parts) but no cutting board, can opener, or basic measuring equipment. 🤔 Everything was delicious. Every meal was special, enjoyed with our framily of 12. (Thanks @tracytsebetz for that awesome word!). And this lovely dish? Quinoa and avocado salad, with zucchini, almonds, raisins, and mint, a huge hit and a super-simple recipe from Milk Street magazine. @177milkstreet #framily #vacation #happeninginthekitchen #homemade #cookingforacrowd #summerfood #foodblog #foodphotography #notmykitchen #foodie #foodiesonvacation #quinoa #avocado #eatlikeamillenial #grainbowl #healthyfood https://www.instagram.com/p/B2Bw9dlH9CP/?igshid=2cakh39zhnnr
