Your Cooking Range is Trying To Tell You Something. Here's How To Listen.
So your oven won't hold temperature. your burner flame looks more orange than blue. you turn the knob and hear clicking for five whole seconds before anything happens. None of this is random. your appliance is giving you very specific signals and each one points to a different problem.
The oven that lies to you: you set it to 180°C. you wait. your food comes out raw in the middle and overdone on top. the oven says it's at the right temperature. it isn't. this is almost always a thermostat on its way out. the sensor that reads the internal temperature has drifted, so the oven thinks it's reached the target when it hasn't, or overshoots it without knowing. the fix is a thermostat replacement. The mistake is assuming it'll sort itself out. it won't.
The burner that burns wrong: a healthy gas burner produces a clean, even, blue flame. if yours is yellow, orange, uneven, or barely there something is blocking the gas ports. usually it's grease. sometimes it's food debris from a boil over that happened months ago and was never fully cleaned.
The fix: Remove the burner cap, soak it, and clear the ports with a thin wire, if the flame is still wrong after a thorough clean, the gas valve itself may be restricting flow, that's a job for a technician.
The igniter that hesitates: A delayed ignition isn't just annoying...., it means gas is flowing into your kitchen for several seconds before combustion happens. over time, a worn or grease-coated igniter electrode gets worse, not better. and one day it just stops working entirely.
Clean the electrode tip with a dry toothbrush. if that doesn't help, the ceramic may be cracked or the module may be failing. either way — don't leave it.
All three of these are fixable. none of them require replacing the whole appliance. If you're in Dubai and you're dealing with any of these, FAJ Technical Services L.L.C covers gas stoves, electric hobs, and ovens across Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi.
