GenX meets millennial life

HAHAHAHAHAA my mom just got back from a 2 hour grocery store trip and she is shaken. She just started one of those meal plan programs where you have to hunt down a week’s worth of ingredients for the first time. It’s also her first time trying to do meal planning after getting home from a full day of work (and this is her first ever full time job). She got home with 12 bags of groceries and just about collapsed on the kitchen floor. She was yelling about Whey powder, waving a jar of Ghee butter in the air, and complaining about how much radishes cost.  “Honestly WHO could possibly have time to do all this and work?! It’s impossible!”  Why did I enjoy this so much? ‘Cause I used to hit up 2-3 grocery stores every monday night after getting off my 8-5 job in the city to find all the ingredients for a meal plan program, and then go home and spend 2 more hours cooking and eating dinner.  I have never felt more validated than in this moment.

Lisa Durante - Wins an ADDY with CookSmarts App

Visual Design for apps requires a new mentality and a departure from many web design principles. App designers must grasp interaction design, user experience, and the app medium to in order to deliver a delightful experience for users. Lisa Durante does just that with her app for CookSmarts. The judges at the 2017 American Advertising Awards agreed and she walked away with a Bronze ADDY for her CookSmarts app and prototype. 

Congratulations Lisa! We are so proud! 

Lisa's app design will move on to regional judging. Her app was created in a Mobile Experience Design course. You can find more information about our upcoming courses on our website.
