Blue glossy eyes widened. A fraction of a section later, a deafening explosion filled the building. Elsa raised her arms instinctively in a defensive stance which did her little to no good as she was blasted a few meters from where she stood. Multiple shards penetrated her her arms and legs and a select few around her abdomen. All she saw was red and orange followed by a thick cloud of smoke. She felt her lungs burn as the air thinned and the stinging of her wounds. Before she surrendered into the darkness, a tall silhouette made its way towards her. Another explosion followed and she succumbed to darkness sweet bliss.
Elsa’s eyes fluttered open. Blue-white. The last colors she saw were red and orange. Why is she seeing blue white? It took only a moment for Elsa’s sense to come crashing down on her. Pain, she felt pain especially on her arms and legs. She felt heavy as well. Heavy. Her eyes widened as her eyes landed on the unconscious man in top of her. From the looks of it, he’s burnt pretty bad. Heartbeat sped up and she observed the man then released a sigh of relief when she felt the gentle rise and fall of the man’s chest. Her eyes scanned the area, the ceiling was still covered in black smoke but she and the stranger were surrounded by some sort of crystal. The air around them was cool but the underlying question to the substance was for another time. She needed to get both of them out. The crystalline wall was starting to melt. Elsa slowly pushed herself up and slowly slid her stinging legs out from under the stranger. Elsa bent down, ignoring the sting and slowly helped the man up, careful not to touch the fresh wound on his back and nape. Everywhere she looked was burning all except for a portion of the floor…
Ice! That was it. It was ice the surrounded them when she woke up. There was no time to waste though, she looked around for a possible escape route. She saw a burnt but still distinguishable fire exit sign and headed in that direction. Miraculously, wherever she was headed, the ice seemed to follow her. She made her way to the exit as fast as she can while carrying an unconscious man and bleeding arms and legs. Elsa panted heavily as she felt her body reaching its limit even with the adrenaline pumping her with the strength she didn’t normally have. Few more more steps till she can finally let herself feel the pain and exhaustion.
"ELSA CAN’T BE GONE, KRISTOFF!" “Anna, please calm down. Maybe she’s in one of the ambulances.” “THERE AREN’T ANY, KRISTOFF! THEY’RE TAKING CARE OF THE PEOPLE NEAR THE HIGHWAY.” “Anna, please…”
"Anna…" Elsa coughed. "ANNA!!!" she screamed. Elsa couldn’t hold the extra weight anymore and fell to the floor. She screamed one more time "ANNA!!!" Her eyes watered. This might as well be her last words as her body screamed in pain. Her eyes stung from the smoke as the fire in the building continued to burn everything. She took mind of the stranger with her and cried even more. "I’m sorry." She whispered. " I hoped that I would be able to save the both us."
"ELSA!" Anna ran into the building followed by Kristoff. Anna gasped. "Kristoff… She’s alive…" Kristoff’s face could only be described as that of person shocked. "She’s…" “She’s saying something. She’s conscious. Let’s hurry.” Anna grabbed his forearm and ran towards Elsa. “…both of us” It was low but audible enough for Anna to hear. “Elsa…” Elsa’s vision blurred for a moment but she was able to recognize the voice. “Anna… Help us…” Elsa fell unconscious the second time that night.
Anna bent down carried Elsa’s unconscious body. She placed Elsa’s arm over her shoulders and placed her arm around her waist to support her. “Kristoff, grab the other guy.” Anna slowly made her way towards the exit while Kristoff carefully pulled the stranger over his shoulders and followed Anna to the exit.
Anna and Kristoff made their way out safely and gently lay the two people down. Both were panting hard but managed to compose themselves a moment later. Kristoff was the first to speak. “We need to get them to a hospital. The nearest one is blocked by that highway accident. We need to act fast elsa Elsa will bleed to the death and this guy’s in a critical condition.” Anna nodded. “Let’s get them to that hospital on the east side of the city. I know a detour. It’ll take us 15 minutes more or less to get there.” “Alright.” It was just probably luck that Kristoff brought his SUV as they managed to position both Elsa and the Stranger comfortably in the backseat. Anna sat on the passenger seat and gave Kristoff directions. They arrived 12 minutes later and immediately brought the injured to the nurses’ attention. Elsa and the Stranger were rushed to the ER where Elsa would be operated on together with the stranger.
Anna paced back and forth in the hallway with Kristoff sitting on one of the benches. Both were too occupied with their thoughts to notice that were covered in blood. “Baby, please sit down. We did our best to get here fast. It’s all in hands of those experts now.” Anna clasped her hands together and sat beside Kristoff. She supported the weight of her arms on her knees as she bowed her head and prayed silently.
6 hours later a man wearing bloody scrubs came out and removed his face mask. “Are you the ones that brought the two patients?” Both nodded silently as they felt their heart beats against their chest. “The woman is stable now. It’s a miracle that none of her vital organs were pierced. She’ll be moved to wards.” Anna interjected. “Please move her to a private room. I’ll pay for everything.” Kristoff glanced at his lover. The doctor nodded and continued. “The man you brought here was in a critical condition. Good thing you were able to get him here fast otherwise we might have lost him for good.” “For good?” Kristoff raised a brow. “His heart failed twice on our operating table but we were able to revive him the third time and kept his heart stable. He’s suffering from 3rd degree burns on most his back and nape. A concussion that would need further examination when he’s better. It’s not fatal. A dislocated shoulder and a punctured lung from one of his bone fragments. We were successful in the operation but he will be moved and further monitored in the ICU. Are you related to him by any chance?” Anna shook her head and let out a loud yawn. “Very well. But you two should get some rest.” The doctored pivoted and returned to the ER. “Thank you, Doc.”
Elsa woke up to a huge headache in a white room. Her eyes scanned the area trying to figure out where she was. On her left was a tube connected to her hand. The scent of cleanliness and rubbing alcohol filled her nose. “Hospital! I’m in a hospital.” Elsa closed her eyes trying to remember what happened but only bits and pieces of the event last night came back. “Man… A man!” She looked around and found no sight of the stranger from last night. Elsa’s ear perked when she heard the sound of a door opening and light foot steps filling the room. “Elsa! You’re awake!” Elsa blinked a few times before recognizing the strawberry-blonde infront of her. She was carrying a paper bag with fruits inside which she gently placed on a table nearby. “I’m so happy you’re okay. We were so worried about you.”. Elsa smiled. “Thank you for saving me…” Elsa looked down and simply stared at her hand currently filling her body with nutrients. “There was…a man… with me last night…” Anna’s eye softened and sat next to her friend. “He survived. But he’s in the ICU right now. We have no way of contacting his family since he’s a complete stranger to us. Do you know?” “…no…” There was a pregnant pause before Anna spoke again. “He was handsome.” “I didn’t really see his face much last night.” “You save him, Elsa.” “…no. You saved him.” “If it weren’t for you, we never would have found him.” “We?” “Kristoff was with me last night when I was looking for you. He was the one that carried him out while I carried you. How did you survive that blast?” Elsa blinked and stared into the empty space. The memories of last night were a blur to her. Except for the stranger. “I don’t know…”
"TADASHI" Elsa’s eyes widened. Did she hear that before she lost consciousness? Who’s Tadashi?
"Rest, Elsa. You need it. You’ll be here for about a week or so until the Doctor gives you the go signal." Elsa nodded and closed her eyes once more. Brown. She saw brown eyes then the color red then black.
(This sooo needs to be BETA’d. Wrote this on my phone. Anyhoo, granddad’s operation was a success and he’s been released today. Thankfully.)
