oh so we're bodyshaming cats now huh
I have the New Girl theme song stuck in my head, except every time I get to Who’s that girl? my brain goes, it’s JEFF.
do not be related to people who are chronically late. you will starve slowly while the whole house smells like ham and egg rolls.
I just spent two solid hours scrolling through Humans of New York instead of sleeping, which I've been wanting to do since I woke up this morning. (Also, yes. I am pretty positive I'm the only person who did not know about this project before today. I live in an isolated culture cave of my own devising!)
But screw sleep. There's something so compelling about getting these small glances into the lives of strangers.* With each new photo I got just enough to intrigue me, draw me into these people's stories and feel like they had shared an important part of their lives with me. But of course, they haven't, I don't get to learn more, and I'm left with this weird longing before I move on to the next person, only to feel the exact same things all over again with some other stranger.
*It reminds me of Up In the Old Hotel by Joesph Mitchell. Which is one of the best books I've ever read. Please partake.
Plus, the photos are beautiful. Many of the captions are incredibly intimate, and a lot of the pictures feel the same way. Like I'm being invited in to these people's private lives. I spent two hours forming these connections to people I have never met and will never meet, all thanks to some text and a lovely photograph. Which, in my experience, hasn't really how the whole human connection thing has previously worked out.
Funnily enough, out of the small number of the collection I've seen, this one got me to tear up. Thanks, Mr. Brandon Stanton, for making me feel feelings.
The whole thing is a gorgeous and fascinating project, and with a full book coming out on the 15th, I think I'm going to have to have to forego a few bottles of Two Buck Chuck and buy another book... What a glamorous lifestyle I lead.

Even if abortion were to become illegal, people would still want abortions. That wouldn't change. This would lead to terrible outcomes such as people using the clothes hanger method. This often results in terrible harm to the mother, if not death.
this is a very interesting approach.. i didnt know about that method and you induced me to look into it, thank you very much!!
