Eliza Saves the Day
Monsieur Dupuis sat on the porch with his old coon dog, Eliza. He said to Eliza, “Chere, bébé, tu est mon ami! Tu me respect et tu me appel pas fou! Merci, vieille Eliza.” (Dear baby Eliza you are my friend. You respect me and you don’t call me crazy. Thank you Old Eliza.)
Smoking a cigarette with his chair kicked back with Eliza by his side Monsieur Dupuis was feeling emboldened. A good dog can do that for a man, encourage him. However, Eliza was becoming in- continent in her aging years, and just as Lilibet was coming out of the house onto the porch barefoot, she stepped into a warm puddle of something yellow.
Monsieur Dupuis to save himself followed what might be his wife’s reaction and said, “Pauvre fou, Eliza, tu à pisse sur la gallérie et Lilibet à marcher dans ça.
Chère, bébé, Lilibet, assise tu et je vais nettoyé tes pieds nupieds.” (Poor old crazy, Eliza, you have peed on the porch and Lilibet has walked in it.
Chere, my baby Lilibet, sit down and I will clean your bare feet.)
Quick thinking on Monsieur Dupuis’ part, blame the dog.
Two eerie tales from the lonely roads of the Riverlands. A hunter comes face to face with the unexpected and an antique photograph makes its presence known.
