Val is a mix of three breeds. Can you guess which ones?
Bonus puppy picture at the end
Very few people have guessed her largest breed percentage correctly (even tho to me it was pretty obvious even before I got her dna results back lol). Shes 7 months old, probably around 55-60 pounds based on what she weighed at the vet 3 weeks ago.
Ok so I know for a fact I’m gonna be wrong because again, hound-looking dogs always trip me up real bad. However! My big three guesses are Redbone Coonhound, either Bull or American Mastiff, and maybe Vizsla? I could also see Rhodesian Ridgeback or Great Dane in there, but it’s. Hard to tell.
Could also be cane corse in there, but I doubt that entirely based on head shape and ear set.
Either way? Absolutely gorgeous dog, she’s gonna be pretty big if she’s seven months and already 60-70lbs. With that in mind, I’d consider waiting to spay her until after her first heat. In my experience, Large breed dogs typically develop better if they’re spayed/neutered older.
You’ve got a beautiful pup, good luck with her!
Also, as a small side note because a couple people have mentioned them now- I know doggy DNA tests can be fun, but they can vary in accuracy. It’s always important to vet your doggy dna testing services, especially if you live somewhere with breed specific laws like pitbull bans and the like.
Thank you again for the wonderful submission, and so sorry for using yours as kind of a PSA!

Today's Dog: The Redbone Coonhound! As the name suggests, these dogs were bred to hunt raccoons. Redbone Coonhounds were bred in the antebellum US South, and have been shown at Westminster since 2010. They were most popularized by the book Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls, which is a children's novel about a young boy who buys and trains two Redbone Coonhounds!
Today's Monkee: Rainmaker! This song was released on Nevada Fighter (1971), Mike Nesmith's 3rd solo album post-Monkees. It was produced by Mike and written by Harry Nilsson and Bill Martin (the latter also wrote Door Into Summer from Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn, and Jones Ltd)!
Morning adventures.
