These sunbirds are found in open habitats across much of central and parts of southern Africa. They eat nectar, along with fruits, spiders, and insects, which they sometimes capture in flight. Breeding from December to March, females build pear-shaped nests with side entrances from grass, leaves, lichen, bark, and other materials. Though females incubate the eggs and brood the chicks alone, both parents feed the nestlings.
