High Wear Resistant Composite Rod Welding for Pipe Cutter Blades on Sale
Composite rod welding also known as cemented carbide composite rod or tungsten carbide brazing rod or tungsten carbide electrode or composite rod welding – you name it – is made of tungsten carbide (one of the most hardest materials ever present) which contains mixture of cobalt for extra hardness. The naturall crushed cobalt with hardness is HRA 89-91, coming with same size selected and blended with the matrix alloy containing elastic copper, nickel and zinc.
Tungsten carbide composite rod or composite rod welding has Ni and Copper alloy as tire body metal which provides strength up to 69Mpa, hardness HB>= 160, outer layer of special flux and color of the electrode used to identify the grading size of this composite rod welding particles. Thus, composite rod welding is considered as an excellent hard facing material.
Composite Rod Welding Applications
Composite rod welding has been acknowledged throughout oil drilling, mining and construction industry woldwide for its extra hardness and high wear resistant properties. The use is even spreading to more industries and get greater uses. Composite rod welding has wear and cutting properties coupled by high-end weldability and low fuming, allowing the material to use in stabilizers, reamers, drill pipe joints, construction drilling, hydraulic-cutter, pipe cutter blades, core bit, scraper, twist drill, milling and grinding shoes etc.

Large particles of composite rod welding are ideal for surfacing of oil pipeline cleaning equipment whereas small particles of the same are suitable for surfacing of large mixer blades. Even smaller composite rod welding particles are suitable for root tree grinding machine. So, composite rod welding has several uses and require perfect size for accurate results.
How Composite Rod Welding from WEISON can Ensure Hard Welding Alloy Layer?
Before using composite rod welding, clean the workpiece to expose metallic luster on the surface of welder. Take the position of flat welding for surfacing. Appropriate placemas can be used here to control the thickness of the surfacing layer and the thickness limit back can be used. Preheat with neutral flame. Don’t touch the surface of the workpiece with the flame core. Keep the 25mm distance maintained! To surfacing hard alloy welding layer, use YD welding electrode for surfacing and use a neutral flame (slightly carbonized flame) to move evenly and smoothly on the workpiece surface. Heat the alloy electrode (don not make the flame tip contact the alloy particles) to melt the matrix alloy in the electrode, and then the composite rod welding particles fall together. Before the molten matrix metal solidifies, the particles are arranged and may be pulled up using an alloy electrode held in the left hand or another person holding a bottom-electrode or stone.
The ink stick as a bar, in a quick manipulation of the particles, so that the arrangement of uniform. The thickness of the surfacing layer is controlled based on the design requirements. After the workpiece is welded, it shall be placed in an unventilated place, and it shall be cooled slowly and not be chilled rapidly. If available, it can be covered with the asbestos blanket. After the workpiece is cooled to room temperature, the surfacing can be ground to the required size and shape if necessary. Clean up the workpiece and removes all spatter, slag etc.
