Story:
Copperpaw was an apprentice. A normal one. On the surface, at least. She had joined Riverclan after living with Bloodclan, and refused to leave her collar, saying it was a part of her. She was bouncy and flamboyant, quickly befriending almost everyone in the Clan.
Copperpaw worked harder than any of the other apprentices, including her rival-turned-crush, Tansypaw. She had to in order to prove her worth. She would sneak out at night to hunt and practice battle moves. Tansypaw must've heard her at one point, because she had followed Copperpaw into the water.
The two began to do everything together. They developed a bond unlike anyone had heard of. Oftentimes, they didn’t even need to speak to each other in order to know what they were thinking. Which is why it hurt so much when Tansypaw got her warrior name first. Tansyfire.
It was a gorgeous name, and it suited her. As proud as she was, Copperpaw was devastated when it turned out that Tansyfire didn’t have any free time to hang out with her.
In her spare time, Copperpaw began to paint. Since Tansyfire wasn’t able to spend as much time with her, she felt ostracized, causing the apprentice to grow irritable and quick tempered.
It snapped one day, resulting in her first victim, her foster brother, Mintpaw. She’d whipped around and slashed him across the throat.
In the midst of trying to wash off the blood, she realized how pretty it looked. A bright red that shimmered in the light.
She couldn't get that color out of her head. She had to see it again, to use it to make a masterpiece.
Copperpaw snuck out again, unaware that she was being followed by Tansyfire as she slunk through the underbrush, searching for someone to 'borrow' from.
She was confronted while in the middle of dragging the body to a spot where she could paint. Surprisingly, Tansyfire was only concerned for her. She helped Copperpaw take care of the evidence, and provided an alibi for her, saying that the blood was just some berry juice.
They worked together. Tansyfire would help hide the bodies, and Copperpaw made art for her.
Eventually, they were caught and, in the midst of trying to get away, Copperpaw tripped and bashed her eye on a sharp stone. It stuck out her eye as she got chased into Twolegplace. Eventually, one of her old friends recognized her and ushered her into the twoleg den, where she stayed until she was sure her Clanmates had left.
She didn’t know where Tansyfire was, and she was in no shape to search. That didn’t stop her, though, and she left despite her friend’s pleading. She used a forked stick to grip the stone, yanking it and her eye out. The pain left her unable to do much, especially clean the wound.
It got infected, and spread to her brain. Copperpaw thought she saw her mate as her vision began to fade. Tansyfire smiled and curled up next to her, and the two conversed long enough for a warrior name to come up. Copperpurr. Tansyfire had always said that she liked her purr; she said it was unique.
The name made her heart flutter, and she closed her eyes. Wherever she ended up, she’d find her mate again, this time with her warrior name.

@liberhoe FleaThistle helps CopperPurr make paint out of plants! He has to keep his head down though to avoid looking her in the eye because it reminds him of what he did to HornetLeg - @wills-woodland-warriors
This is somehow both happy and sad at the same time
Kick the tail
"C'mon Brokenkit!" One of the Dark Forest kittens is standing at the entrance to Gorseheart and Emberdawn's den. Gorseheart nudges the kit awake, letting her know someone is talking to her. "We're gonna play 'Kick the Tail'!"
Brokenkit shakes out her eternally wet fur, grumbling and nosing further into her found father. It earns a chuckle from the older two cats but a groan from the kit at the entryway. They tumble toward her, bouncing excitedly. "C'mon! You never leave Gorseheart, we wanna play with you!!"
She ends up agreeing, resulting in her, Stumppaw, Copperpurr, Smalljump, Sparktail, and Aries standing next to each other. Gorseheart is next to the kit who suggested the game so he can translate their words into pawspeak.
"Okay! So! I managed to steal Foxflake's tail, so we'll be using that as the ball. Each team needs three cats on it, so get into your groups!" Brokenkit sighs at the instructions, craving the warmth of Emberdawn's soft fur. She pairs up with Copperpurr and Aries.
"I'll be the referee! That means imma watch and make sure there's no fow.. fou.. no cheating!" The kit puffs their chest out when they find a way around the word. "One team is gonna start with the tail. We'll flip a skull to see which team. When the referee says 'go', someone will toss it into the air. From there, it's a matter of trying to get it into a goal!" To demonstrate, the kit picks up the matted, fluffy tail and tosses it into a pile of dead moss that has been shaped into a 'U'. "Like that!! You can't run with the tail though, that's too easy. And no tackling or biting! I'm looking at you, Copperpurr!" The molly in question just shrugs and grins, laughing at whatever memory the kit is talking about.
Aries pulls a paw over his ear, only half paying attention, "And what about blocking?"
"That's allowed as long as you don't touch 'em!"
There's one last pleading glance given to Gorseheart before the game begins. With another sigh, Brokenkit trudges to her side of the mud field.
===================
this is simultaneously so dark and so cute.
How is Fox going to react?
Foxflake: Teaches how to evade hits and trip opponents. She’s scrawny so she likes to fight the overly cocky apprentices and make them look stupid
Frostswan: Teaches poison and how to lie to authorities
Fadingstar: Does not teach. somehow both protective and terrified. Got beat up by Breezepelt and now has marks across his face. Now he always chickens over Fleathistle when the apprentices come. Tries to find Ferndoe
Ferretrunner: he doesn’t teach he just likes to beat the shit out of the small ones
Copperpurr: Where arteries are
Foxflake is all of us
and rip to Breezepelt, cause you know someone (probably Jackdawfoot) will hand him his ass
Concept: CreatureFall makes fucked up apstract paintings using blood, plants, mud and berries using sheets of bark as canvases and he keeps trying to give them to people as gifts. How does GorseHeart feel about receiving an incredibly hideous painting? - @wills-woodland-warriors
Coppurpurr joins him and they have such fun sharing tips and exchanging structural critisism
Gorseheart would love having someone think about him! Maybe one of his kits see and and decide they want to do that too, so Creaturefall and Coppurpurr teach them
one time Loonfur drank all Copperpurr’s paint and Copperpurr almost cried
Loonfur: that's why I did it
