Hm, I most recently read a fanfic that got me thinking about Kakashi again. When I remember the fic I'll post a link. But basically it was about Iruka getting scolded about his assumptions of Kakashi because they were all wrong. But what really got me thinking was the fact that this person mentioned that Kakashi did not know how to properly read or write even as an adult, because he was busy becoming a master assassin and shinobi. That's why he always has Icha Icha Paradise on him, once he learned to read well. And it got me thinking. You know, most people portray Kakashi as a child as a genius (which is correct) but in the manner that he could read and form sentences coherently by like age 3. Which I find this theory to be plausible, however the idea that Kakashi was never really a kid and didn't learn to write and read as other kids may have is by far more intriguing and something I would want to see explored. Maybe he only learned to read directions and symbols for missions? Or words enemies may write or use? Maybe he was taught to write shorthand and quick and precise because a mission doesn't give you much time? Maybe he was going to learn but after his fathers suicide he never had the time.
