IT WASN’T STRANGE TO FIND HIM THERE, sitting in the shallow water, feet buried under then sand underwater, watching as the gentle waves lapped against his legs. Gaze fixed on the horizon but his mind was miles away from that place, letting old memories of happier times wash over him and perhaps just making his heart heavier than what it already was. He felt her presence before seeing her, the smallest hint of a smile gracing his features and he turned his head to watch behind his shoulder, bright green hues settling on her as she got closer. A hum leaving his lips when he turned his head again.
❝ My head is stuck in a cycle. ❞ He didn’t need to look up to know she was close enough to hear him speak. ❝ It's like that I've stopped breathing, but I’m completely aware. ❞ A pause. ❝ Does it make sense ? ❞
