⸻ KYLO REN

          FOR HOW LONG HAD HE BEEN CRAWLING ON THE EARTH  ?    Some would say since the beginning of time and perhaps they wouldn’t be that far off from the truth.    He was there for the most important events,  he was the cause of quite the handful of them,  but what one could expect from an eldritch being who was known to be an agent of chaos,  bearer of nightmares & madness.    It was his very peculiar nature that allowed him to be around that long without getting bored or succumbing to the fate of his kins,  exiled to the stars,  ah,  what a dreadful thought was to be confined up there.

          But lately meddling and playing around with the ever so fragile psyche of human beings was starting to lose its charm,  too easy to drive mad and bend them to his own will till blood would be spilled.    Perhaps that was the reason why as of recently he’d been drawn toward more interesting beings,  or so he thought,  because he still had to find his own match,  one that wouldn’t break at the sight of his real form,  a being made of nothing but void,  a myriad of eyes littering his own frame,  carefully concealed underneath his current appearance most of the times.

          That was how he ended up there,  he could feel the presence even before stepping foot inside,  it was hard to miss it,  it was almost delightfully suffocating,  interesting.    It was easy for seafoam hues to locate him,  underneath his skin there was energy buzzing,  maybe this wasn’t a waste of time,  or even worse a mistake.    Unblinkingly,  following his each move while still standing his ground,  the occasional subtle raise of a brow as he picked up on the details.    Armitage almost felt compelled to shed his human appearance,  just almost,  that was something he would have to wait,  showing all his cards had never been his go to.    ❝  Curious,  aren’t you  ?  ❞    Words earned by the touch of his hair,  a tilt of his head then,  letting ginger hair brush against the other’s fingers.    Was that an invitation  ?    A challenge  ?    Perhaps a mix of both.    ❝  But what interesting being you are.  ❞    He mused,  hues gleaming under the artificial light of the place.    ❝  And hidden all alone here,  what a shame.  ❞

⸻ ARCHEX CAL’LIEN

          HE COULD HAVE COME ACROSS MANY PEOPLE FROM HIS PAST.    The possibilities were almost endless,  and yet,  the one person he had to find himself face to face was the one that still had a hold of certain strings in his soul,  perhaps the most honest parts of it.    Life truly could be quite the ironic experience.    There was an ache subtly settling deep in his core,  right under his rib cage,  despite the way Armitage kept a leveled expression,  but if one was to pay attention,  how easy it would be to notice the way seafoam hues trembled.    The words spoken didn’t come as surprise,  on the contrary,  he had been expecting them,  perhaps,  even worse.    ❝  I know.  ❞    What else was he supposed to say  ?    When words seemed to fail him.    He allowed his gaze observe the other man,  details being taken in,  as lips pursed.

          At least he was okay.    Better than how he had looked in all of Armitage’s possible scenarios that from time to time seemed to sneak their ways back in his mind ever since that day.    A shake of his head then,  the mention of the kids bringing his attention back to reality.    ❝  Are you sure you want to know  ?  ❞    They both knew how Phasma operated,  and the fact Armitage himself had his hands tied when it came to who should train the stormtroopers.    ❝  They are. . . trying their best.  ❞    The ones left,  that was it.

          THERE WAS LOGIC BEHIND HER WORDS,  that much he could admit,  and yet,  Ben found himself raising a brow.    He learned a long,  long while ago to never do anything without receiving something in return,  it was what kept him thriving in his unusual occupation,  knowing how to make deals.    But it wasn’t that case with the books he collected for her,  it was a simple mean to brighten her day when the weight of the war could bring forth more darkness that one could take.    That was why he never really expected anything in return,  and why her words did caught him by surprise,  if only for a moment.    ❝  You should know I don’t bring you books to get something in return.  ❞    He voiced his thoughts,  a pause then as he tilted his head to the side ever so slightly.    ❝  Knowing that you enjoy them it’s all i need.  ❞    Despite the true nature of his words,  there was a playful undertone to them.    ❝  But I’m never saying no to time spent with you.  ❞    Especially with how everything seemed to get more difficult as of late,  and Ben was already considering offering his help to his mother.

          A hum left his mouth at her question,  lips pursing while he collected his thoughts.    ❝  My droid is taking care of the ship,  I haven’t been called over by my mother yet,  so,  I’d say we go before that happens.  ❞    Because he knew if that was to happen,  he wouldn’t be able to get away for quite the some time.   He offered his arms,  almost in a playful manner.    ❝  Shall we,  my brave adventurer  ?  ❞    He chuckled,  the noise filled with mirth before he started toward the exit of the base.

          IT WAS ALMOST HOW THE SIMPLEST THINGS were the ones bringing him a joy he could barely put into words.    He had always been one to chase adventures,  not never staying in one place for too long because boredom seemed to always be right around the corner,  ready to creep in the back of his mind and bringing forth a restlessness he wasn’t quite good to deal with.    And yet,  right in the moment,  with her in his arms and the starry sky right outside the window,  he felt at peace,  like for once in his life he didn’t mind taking roots somewhere.    It was her words that brought him away from the wonders of his thoughts and he found himself chuckling.    ❝  Where you reading my mind,  darling  ?  ❞    A teasing,  the arms wrapped around her frame giving her a gentle squeeze.    ❝  Because I was just thinking how,  if it was possible,  I would stop time right in this moment.  ❞    His tone was soft as he spoke,  words laced with obvious affection.    

          He dipped his head then,  lips pressing against a bare shoulder,  leaving a trail of kisses towards her neck.    ❝  Such a shame that is not possible.  ❞    Words whispered against her skin,  before he resumed with his kisses.    Stopping only when his nose nudged the back of her ear,  ❝  But that only makes the time spent together more special.  ❞    The playful expression upon his features softening then,  her concerns bringing an understanding smile to his lips.    ❝  Hey. . .  ❞    A pause,  just long enough so Ben could bring one of his hand to her chin,  gently grabbing it and guiding her to turn her head to the side while he leaned over.    ❝  You truly believe they aren’t going to love the woman who stole their son’s heart  ?  ❞

          THERE WAS A SCOFF FOLLOWING HER WORDS.    He didn’t need time for that,  he had been called rude plenty of times,  but none was due the involvement of his hand and someone else’s behind,  and he was more than certain it was never going to happen.    ❝  Nope.    I can live to be thousand and it still won’t happen.  ❞    It was his remark,  followed by a shake of his head.    Her words earned a raise of his brow,  a subtle telltale of his curiosity being piqued.    ❝  Oh  ?    Are you not  ?    Because your actions sure say another story.  ❞    He should feel offended by being adorable,  he really should have,  and yet,  he found himself letting out a chuckle.    ❝  I’ve been called many things but adorable is quite the first.    And I am not sure how I feel about that.  ❞

          A CHUCKLE SLIPPED PAST HIS MOUTH,  and Ben found himself shaking his head despite the hint of a smile that was touching his own features.    ❝  Technicalities.  ❞    A huff that sounded much more like a held back laugh.    He fell silent once again,  gaze shifting,  hazel hues studying her for a beat longer before he also face forward.    Letting the soft calmness surround him once more,  like a security blanket wrapping itself around him.    It was her words that earned a snort from him.    ❝  Please,  don’t remind me.  ❞    He understood all too well.    ❝  It’s a guaranteed headache the moment you step foot in there.  ❞    He hummed.    ❝  There is juts so much tuning out you can do before ending up with you head filled with thoughts that aren’t yours.  ❞
