Are we not going to talk about how the only reason Lucy Gray left Snow was because she figures out his decision before he did and knew that she would die either by Snows hand or the Mayors. Not only did she figure that out though she created a plan to distract Snow and executed it causing Snow to think he was going to die. Like she KNEW that the snake she grabbed wasn’t poisonous and you can’t tell me otherwise. This is the girl that knows where to find the snakes, as Maude put it. Like Lucy wasn’t a needless killer she just needed a distraction.

This also shows the applications of Snow and Lucy’s beliefs on humanity. Lucy believes that humans are good even if they do cross over the line, while Coriolanus believes that humans are inherently bad. Snow tried to kill Lucy (and may have succeeded) as soon as he thought she left even though he knew she wouldn’t rat him out in anyway. Meanwhile Lucy knew that snow would try and kill her so she set up a harmless trap to trick him. Lucy was good and didn’t cross the line into killing but used her witts to trick Snow into hysteria most likely hoping he’d leave her alone.

I looked this up and from what I can tell sealing pages with salt water isn’t a thing. Like it sounds obvious now that I say it but I thought since the pages were parchment (usually parchment refers to animal skin and not paper from what I can tell) maybe it was an old technique that just isn’t used anymore since we use paper. But nope I was wrong the sealing the pages with salt water is referring to tears. They cried over EVERY SINGLE PEROSN in that book. Haymich alone added 46 tributes that he couldn’t save and I don’t doubt there are more people in there than we could ever imagine.

Wait a minute, at Annie and Finnicks wedding Katniss said that the people of district 12 were dancers and they knew all types of dances unlike those is 13 and probably many other districts since 12 was pretty chill in terms of peacekeepers enforcing the laws. What if they’re also dancers because of the covey. Since the covey couldn’t perform at the Hob anymore they definitely had to perform somewhere so why not in a meadow or somewhere in town. Eventually dances would be made up to go along with the songs and that’s why dancing is a thing that the people in 12 know how to do

What if Lucy Gray did survive and she had a son and taught him the songs she knew and the songs she wrote. Her son has her husbands name which she took to protect herself from the man that was climbing her ranks, her old mentor. She told her son of the mockingjays and took him to the lake. She showed him the Katniss which she tells him saved her life. That boy grows up to be Mr. Everdeen and when his first child is born he named her Katniss after the plant that saved his mothers life.

When we all ignored the biggest foreshadowing was the cover of the book with the mockingjay and the snake dancing away from each other

I just realized that the reason for making tributes the mentors isn’t purely because of what happened in the 10th games it’s because it’s used as another form of keeping people in line. It’s apart of the eternal war Dr Gaul keeps waging. Like when Lucy got back to 12 that was it for her. She had no victory tour, no mentoring to do, no village to remind her of what she did. Lucy could go back to her normal and cope close to things she finds safe. Yes Lucy didn’t truly get her hands dirty and she even admits 2 of her kills were self defense and the other need for survival but it’s still her fault which I can imagine still resulted in a form of ptsd. Everything after Snow was to prolong the pain to make sure the tributes never forgot their times in the games. The houses the tributes lived in, the money they had, the touring, and the mentoring it was to constantly inflict pain on them. Of course we know this it’s said explicitly in the books. It’s weird how the tributes could go back and live undesturbed before Snow joined the game makers. He probably used his time with Lucy to see where he could inflict more pain.

On page 386 of Mockingjay Katniss Wales up in her bed after crying with buttercup over Prim. She fell asleep in the living room from what I can tell. So does that mean Haymich or Peeta came by to check on her and then carried her upstairs to her bed?

I mean personally I like to imagine Greasy Sae and her granddaughter lugging Katniss up the stair and hitting her head on the door frame. But you know, to each their own.
