Cornelis Boumeester, 1652-1733, is a painter from Rotterdam who is known for having decorated tiles Delftware while drawing in contemporary painting. We find its panels throughout Europe to Venice and Lisbon. ceramic tiles produced in the Netherlands and northern France in the seventeenth century were used to adorn the walls of kitchens and utility rooms. In most cases, each tile representing independent scene. On rarer occasions, talented potters produced broad patterns unfolding over several tiles, as is the case here.
