Cornwall’s Forgotten Corner
I refer to the Rame Peninsula, in Cornwall’s south east corner. A small peninsula on the western edge of Plymouth Sound, bypassed by train services and the A38. Almost island like, the easiest means of access are from the Devonpoint to Torpoint car ferry, or the Stonehouse to Cremyll pedestrian ferry. This little peninsula has everything you would expect of Cornwall: Wide sandy beaches at Whitsand Bay; quaint fishing villages at Cawsand and Kingsand; beautiful estuaries, glorious countryside and a majestic National Trust property at Antony House. As the crow flies, a mere stone’s throw from Plymouth, though getting to Plymouth by ferry a long drive around always feels like a bit of an effort. So why bother? Rame is an artist’s paradise. Often overlooked in favour of Looe and Polperro, there is always something lovely to paint. Two of my paintings are shown above. https://folksy.com/shops/TheChrisArtist

One thing I’ve been wanting to bring home for a while has been a vintage style Cornish art poster. Artist John…
