Dogwoods in Spring, Williamsburg, 1984.
Another Dogwood Bloom on a Diseased Tree in My Garden, Fairfax, 2018.
Like several once common species in North America, the dogwood (cornus) may be doomed to extinction or near extinction. Importation of exotics and climate change are both driving factors, though the actual tree death is usually by some biological agent, in the case of dogwoods anthracnose.
