Super cute, and you could see how protective of it the mom horse was...she hustled it away once we started taking pictures. Wild and feral descendants of Colonial Spanish mustangs that survived shipwrecks, the origins of the horses date back nearly 500 years, making them some of the Outer Banks’ oldest residents. A small herd survived through the centuries and continues to thrive amid the changing landscape of the banks, and can be seen roaming the beaches and dunes throughout the Currituck area.
