"Tighten the sails and fasten everything on board, I won't have us losing our supplies!" Came the harsh words from a woman on the ship's deck. These commands came from none other than Mikasa Ackerman, one of the most notorious sailors of her ship, Maria. She also had two smaller ships named Rose and Sina, however with a load this big, she had no choice but to pick her largest ship to carry out the goods.
Mikasa was feared by those who ever made her cross, and feared that one day she would come for them. The crimson scarf she either wore on her neck or tied to her belt loop was rumored to have been steeped in the blood of those who she killed, though that was completely false. She wasn't evil by any means. She was a neutral party, if the government of a country hired her to transport goods, she would, if a fellow ship asked her to raid an island, she would, albeit for a far higher price than most were willing to pay.
It made her almost smile when other captains, specifically male captains dared to challenge her authority, thinking that because she was a female, she was beneath her. Never losing a battle once, Mikasa easily shut up even the bravest of men, gaining respect fast.
She had recently been hired to make the trade between two governments, her ship carrying jewels, paintings, and coins beyond belief. Of course she made sure her crew wouldn't disobey her and steal some of the bounty, she trusted all of them dearly, though she never showed it. If someone were to find out her crew was her weakness, she would be done for.
As to why she was barking out orders before, there was a wicked storm that was in their path, one that would wipe out lesser ships in a second. Mikasa knew that navigating the storm would be difficult, but she trusted her crew and her skills, and they'd be able to make it through. All had gone well until they realized that they were far too close to a random shore, far off their course. Normally, she could adjust their course with ease and get them out of danger, that is until she heard the sicking creak and crash of breaking wood.
The ship lurched, the bottom slowly filling with water. Mikasa swore softly and ushered her crewmates to the lifeboats, getting what supplies she could onto them and save her friends. It was the captain's job to go down with their ship. She ordered them to get to land and get safe. Under no circumstances were they to look for her until they were safe. After sending them off, Mikasa struggled to save the other supplies and her ship.
The ship was slowly capsized by a nearby wave, sending the female captain seep underwater. She tried desperately to get to surface, but she couldn't tell what was up and what was down. Her head was hit by a falling supply, making the girl dizzy. She was done for, nobody would be around to save her. Though, before she blacked out, she could have sworn that she saw a pair of steely, dark blue eyes peering at her from the depths.
