A certified public accountant with an “insatiable appetite for gambling” who siphoned close to $41 million from his clients for over a decade to feed his addiction was yesterday sentenced to a jail term of 25 years and 10 months.
Ewe Pang Kooi, 65, a Singapore permanent resident, was convicted in March of 50 charges of criminal breach of trust as an agent.
Germany: German prosecutors raid Porsche in corruption probe
Prosecutors in Stuttgart said they raided German sports car maker and Volkswagen subsidiary Porsche on Tuesday on suspicion that an auditor was bribed to pass information to the company’s tax advisor.
The investigators suspect that “an official from the Stuttgart business audit office revealed confidential information to a tax advisor of Porsche AG and accepted benefits in exchange,” they said in a statement.
