The Life of a Corporate Weeaboo 002: BLush Con 2016
I haven’t been able to work on any translations as of late as I was actually busy with work (surprisingly) and I was busy preparing for BLush Con. It’s a Boys Love convention in the Philippines and this year’s con happened to be the final so we went ahead and took a table.
(long post; image heavy)
It was my friend’s birthday the night before so I spent the morning organizing my things for the con and met up with them for a movie and drinking in the evening. I said I was gonna go home before 12mn but I haven’t seen these guys in quite a while so we ended up talking a lot til 2-3AM.
I just decided to sleep at my friend’s house while they played Overwatch. I fell asleep listening to them discussing the controls. I woke up around an hour later and they were screaming about someone who’s repeatedly targeting them because they’re n00bs. I went back to sleep a little after and woke up next to them screaming about how they’re not getting enough EXP. I tried to sleep again only to wake up to them screaming about chasing and killing someone. It was just a couple of minutes to my alarm so I just got up and watched them haha Overall, I got 2 hours of sleep. It’s all good.
I got home, prepared and called up the driver to take me to the venue. Call time for the event merchants was 9AM and I arrived 10:30, 30m before the doors open. My friend was already there waiting (I’m really sorry ketten!!!) and it took me 15 more minutes to get to the hall because we got lost.
Doors opened and we were still setting up the table. I wanted to make original merchandise but I was lazy so I ended up just selling all my leftover official merchandise from various series.
I didn’t get to take a picture of our table but here’s me with my table-friends.
(I didn’t get to take a photo with the other friend who occupied half of the table huhuhu sorry, ketten!! For being extremely late too orz)
Met a friend I haven’t seen in so long too. I just gave her her DVD of Saotome Taichi’s Mabataki.
Of course, I went around and bought my own share of merchandise. Here’s my haul:
I tunneled so hard on Joker Game that any other merchandise didn’t attract me hahaha sadly there weren’t a lot of people selling them. (There were like 3 tables?)
One of them was a very alivecute Miyoshi whom I met on twitter a while back (if you’re reading this, hi) I gave her lots of hugs o)-<
I also got some HeroAca stuff. There were lots of shipping of characters and it’s not really my cup of tea for this series so I only got stickers stuff. Both sets are from friends too hahah (the right set being the one in our table)
With cornepu~
And of course, I won’t forget Ishikirimaru despite not playing Touken Ranbu anymore.
The KuroTsuki acrylics are for @sound-piece. I wanted to video-call her with all the kurotsuki stuff there but it was impossible :( even sending pictures were hard so I just sent her previews of the cutest ones. The TsuruIchi acrylics were also from my previous orders with ketten. There was a time when I hoarded TsuruIchi but I’m kinda tired of them now. These are cute though so I’ll be keeping them (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧ I also got Kidchan prints ;_; I missed out on the books since I visited her booth really late orz
Funny story! The table beside us had the Ishikirimaru ichiban-kuji block fig. I was eyeing it as soon as we started setting up but I didn’t want to spend until I actually earned something. In the end, as soon as people started lining up at their table, I tapped one of the sellers on the shoulder and asked if I can get it. I’ve been looking for that for quite some time now and I’m so glad I finally got it hahaha it was fate that their table was placed beside ours ( ゚∀゚)
The details are amazing. I’m so glad I got this almost cheap dirt too! (I have a new desk-buddy at work hahaha)
Anyways, I never thought tabling at conventions would be extremely tiring. We were very unprepared and just chugged all my shit at the table. I never knew I had that much stuff just laying around my room! We were so tired we packed up 2 hours before the event actually ended so after that we were just dicking around in our cleared-out table while discussing future tabling plans. I forgot what exactly we were talking about but it’s most likely because we’re high on caffeine while low on batter; our train of thought went like BL → Bestiality Love → Buddha Love → Saint Oniisan BL → Jesus Love. We even came up with a hand-sign in which we plan to turn into our future circle’s logo HAHAHA (in which my friend drew it and we joked about how we’ll tell everyone it’s a commission hahaha)
We’ll set-up a proper booth next time!!!!
Big thanks to my officemate, eru, for the encouragement pigeon. It kept me alive throughout the day.
