Spin the bottle drabble: For @xdawn-chamberlainx
It was Amelia's 16th birthday. The Circle and all of her other friends, were invited to come to party at her house. It wasn't supposed to be something big and flashy, just some friends coming over to her house and hanging out, but of course it wasn't like that at all.
Ethan walked down the sidewalk, a small box wrapped in bright colored paper was tucked under one arm, and a bottle of booze was in held in the other. Ethan of course, do to his alcoholic father, was in charge of bringing the 'drinks', so he brought the least noticeable alcoholic beverage he could, a bottle of Jack Daniels. His father wouldn't miss it because he had so many bottles of jack laying around, so who's he to notice one missing?
He could hear the music pounding from outside and from the windows flashed beams of colored lights, and as he walked past the front gate, he could hear the murmur of chattering voices coming from within. He made his way to the front door, knowing he was a little a late, and hoped no one would notice as he slipped in.
He put the box and bottle down on the cement by his feet and looked down at himself. He bit the inside of his lip, noticing how messy and unput together he looked. He adjusted the collar of his shirt, and pulled at the fabric of his jacket, straightening himself out. Realizing it was hopeless, he let out a strangled sigh, "Oh well...." he mumbled under his breath as he picked up his things and, reached for the doorknob, turning it. He hesitantly opened the door and headed inside.
She loved it, she loved his gift. He couldn't help but smile at that fact. "Help me put it on," she giggled, turning around and lifting her hair. Ethan brought the chain around her neck and clipped it in the back,"there..." he breathed, putting his hands up as he finished. She turned around, grinning ear to ear, it made his heart skip a beat, seeing that one special smile that she flashed and knew that was only reserved for him.
"I love it!" She said excitedly, as she got on her tippy toes and placed a quick KISS on his cheek,"it's beautiful." She picked up the bright turquoise colored gem that hung around her neck, admiring it.
Ethan stood there, bashfully grinning, butterflies and a feeling of accomplishment flittered in his stomach. He gave her a necklace that been in his families for generations, usually passed from husband to wife, from lover to lover. It was a sign of devotion and an encompassing love. It was given to him from his grandmother and as she handed it to him she told him,"give this to the one you love, as a sign of everlasting love, and you'll always be together ...."So naturally, he gave it to Amelia, the one he knew he was destined to be with, always and forever. They were written in the stars, that part he knew was true, despite what other people might say, he knew they were meant to be with each other, he could feel it in his heart and down to his very bones. He was sure of it.
Amelia stood up on a chair and clanked a fork against a glass, trying to get everyone's attention. Once the music stopped and all eyes were on her, she cleared her throat to speak," It's time to play 'spin the bottle!" She announced, grinning with a knowing smile.
The crowd groaned and Amelia hopped off the chair, almost falling, Ethan reached for her, but Blackwell caught her in the end.
"Whoa," She said wide eyed before standing back up,"t-thank you...." she said in a shy voice, batting her lashes at Blackwell. Ethan rolled his eyes disgusted, crossing his arms over his chest, in defiance.
Amelia and a few of the other girls, including Dawn, Elizabeth and Katherine, fluttered about here and there, gathering people and sitting them down in groups, in circles. Ethan just stood there in the shadows, rigid, not knowing what to do, and frankly not caring.
He was just about to head out back, when he felt a hand on his shoulder,"Ethan," it was Amelia," Aren't you going to play?"
Ethan turned back around and searched her fathomless eyes. He could tell she really wanted him to, that she wanted his best friend with her, so he nodded," Fine, yeah...." he said reluctantly, following her up the stairs into her bedroom, were the rest of the Circle was gathered.
He grumbled a bit to himself and sat down on the floor, next Amelia and across from Blackwell. Blackwell noticed him staring and smirked at him, a devious look in his eyes. Ethan quickly looked down and twiddled at his hands, not wanting to start anything with Blackwell and ruin Amelia's party...he could do that afterwards, but not now.
"Birthday girl goes first," Sophie encouraged, handing the bottle to Amelia.
"Oh fine," Amelia shrugged, placed the bottle in the middle of the circle and giving it a good spin. Blackwell of course, Ethan shook his head irritated, knowing Blackwell must of used magic to point the bottle in his favor.
"No magic," Amelia reminded him, as she leaned forward, grinning, as they kissed. "Of course," he muttered, afterwards, eyeing her like a piece of meat or a prize. Disgusting, Ethan cringed, anger flaring in his eyes, his nose flaring.
"Someone's a little jealous," he heard someone say, and a few whispers and giggles come from the rest of the circle.
"Ethan you're next," Amelia handed the bottle to him, raising her eyebrow in a challenging way.
"Yes. We're going clockwise, so you're next."
"Whatever," Ethan snatched the bottle from her hand and spinned it. Dawn. Ew. "Really?!?"
"What?" Dawn snapped, slightly offended at Ethan's response. "Are we gonna do this or what?"
Ethan rolled his eyes again, and stood up as Dawn did to. They walked across the circle, meeting each other in the middle. "Well?" She asked expectantly, arching an eyebrow.
Ethan closed his eyes and pecked Dawn on the lips, feeling his stomach flip and turn in knots. "There," he said, satisfied, opening his eyes, and sitting back down before anyone could protest.
"That was hardly a kiss." he heard a voice state, they rest of the Circle grumbling in agreement.
"Yeah, but it was still a kiss," Amelia spoke with an air of superiority, her word was the final word and all they needed to hear, "Now who's next?"
