hey arts-and-crafts tumblr i got a question

I've been wanting to make some (mostly decorative to wear over shirts for the cottagecore kinda look) underbust corsets for a while now, and while I want to have the boned corset look (no fabric bunching at the waist) I also don't want to actually reduce my waist in any way. Is that something that's possible? Would it stay up? Would I just have to make it to my measurements and lace it rather loosely?
