What is one thing about the world you’ve come to appreciate?
“When I was young, I travelled south, along the river which I had grown up beside. In memories I discovered its beginning: a stream deep beneath the mountain, carried down its slope by unseen forces, but I could not see its end. And so, I set out in search of it. It took me to the sea. The sight of it filled me with both wonder and despair– I had never dreamt that the earth had blue to match the sky we came from, and yet I thought: this was the edge. Beyond that shore lay nothing more, and when I had finished walking the earth there would be nothing else to learn.
“Curiosity took me into its waters, and I realised how wrong I was. Beneath the waters lay a world with impossible depths, that I may live a million more years and never see their end. The river that fed into the ocean did not stop at the mouth, but carried on, skating across saltwater until it grew too heavy to stay aloft.
“It was a young elf’s pride that led me to believe I could learn all there is to know within Thedas. Every day there is someone new who was not here before, and no end to our experience. There is always another dream, another memory, and it is comforting to think that I will never see it all, whether I live one year or one thousand.”
