continuing by fran thoughts because im thinking about how story wise the first *real* major display of gentleness and kindness from Fran towards Lyre is to cradle their face away from a very gruesome corpse because Lyre isn't desensitized to it. and instead of looking at them and telling them to get used to it, she just quietly hold Lyre as they yknow- freak out at seeing their first corpse, the first person they couldnt save its like- fran is lowering themself to lyres level, extending that hand to keep their fellow magical girl from sinking. really the first moment that humanized fran and pulls them slightly away from their stoic demeanor- hes by no means nice but hes not some infallible wall. he doesnt even say anything really, fran doesnt talk much anyways. i dunno just like, hands that have so long been used to rend and tear, holding someone like theyre precious, so very gentle as if they could break (they wont but that knowledge doesnt change how fran feels) hits different
