Why can I totally picture Daryl and Connie reuniting and giving each other a tight hug and him pulling back a bit to sign "you okay?' while looking concerned but also relieved?
Daryl x Connie
A little snippet of something I’ve been working on.
It was maybe a couple hours later that Daryl stopped walking causing Connie and Dog to halt as well, he knew they’d need to stop for the night as a blanket of heavy clouds was spreading across the starry sky eclipsing the safety the moon’s guiding light bestowed upon them.
“Let’s stop ‘ere, rest some, wait for the light.” Daryl’s voice broke the silent night and when he heard no answer of agreement he looked back at Connie to see her looking in her bag for something and he suddenly felt like an idiot for forgetting she couldn’t hear him.
“Shit,” he grumbled to himself before trying to figure out how to get her attention instead of just standing there and waiting for her to look at him. He didn’t want to wave his hand to get her attention as it didn’t feel right to do that so he hesitantly took a step towards her and lightly tapped her arm.
She immediately looked at him in curiosity and he realised he’d have to speak clearly so she could read his lips and the thought of her direct attention made his stomach flutter nervously.
“We should rest a bit, wait for first light before movin’ again.”
Connie’s big eyes flicked up from his lips to his own eyes before nodding her agreement and moving to sit with her back to an old gnarled tree. He followed suit and sat opposite her, resting his elbows on his knees and looking over at Dog as he sniffed the ground curiously before trotting over to sit beside Connie obviously in search of a treat or a pet. Daryl snorted, it was clear his canine companion had taken a liking to Connie right away, and from the way she rubbed his fur and patted him as if to tell him he was a good boy she had taken a liking to Dog in return.
She then removed a bottle of water from her bag and took a sip before looking to Daryl and offering the drink, he nodded and caught the clear plastic after she threw it to him. He took a grateful swallow or two before passing it back to her and she looked at Dog and then back to Daryl before holding up the bottled water. It was clear to him she was asking if Dog needed some too.
“Go ahead,” he replied with a nod and watched as she opened the bottle and tilted it in front of Dog’s watchful gaze and as the water began to trickle from the bottle he began to eagerly lap up every drop he could making Daryl slightly smirk and Connie smile and brush her hand down the fur on his back.
shading is hard. but for them, anything. u//__//u <3
" i was too young when it happened to have much memory of those times, but ... when i look at this photo, it reminds me that we were happy together. "
I mean no offense to anyone that's made a post about this, and didn't mean it in a bad way or with spite but I really hate the logic:
'It's out of character for Daryl to get with Connie so fast because he and Carol have been friends for 10 years.'
I've seen people say this a few times and I really don't see what one has to do with the other.
Yes, Daryl wouldn't just get with Connie right after they meet. He wouldn't get with anyone so soon. It would take time.
But after a year of knowing each other and creating a bond with Connie, and feeling a connection, it would NOT be out of character for something to happen now. I'm not talking about a full blown running to her and making out with her and confessing his love, or whatever. I mean him coming to the realization that he has feelings (and vice versa) and being comfortable holding her hand for a moment when it's just them or giving her a hug or doing cute little things for her and slowly building from that.
The logic that that wouldn't happen because him and Carol have been friends for 10 years makes no sense because
A) After a year of Carol and Daryl being friends they were practically besties. They trusted each other and even made jokes with one another. Because after a year a bond can indeed grow and for them it grew in to a sibling like bond. And...
B) There's no romantic feelings involved. So after ten years I'd expect them to be almost exactly where they were, couple of besties that are even closer now. That has no correlation to Daryls love life and how capable he was able to quickly bond with Connie.
Nope. Nope. Nah Yvette.
I think it's very telling that you think that Daryl can only bond deeply with someone else that's not Carol is if his friendship with Carol is on the rocks.
What? Are those feelings you think Daryl's had all these years, that easily swayed? Those hidden feelings you claim he has for her, can just go away in like two seconds and then he's on to someone else?
Nah. Bullshit.
Daryl is more than capable of being with someone else and still have a close knit relationship with Carol.
It's bullshit that you feel the need to use that as an excuse as to why your ship hasn't gone canon. As if there aren't many reasons why they are still just friends; my personal favorite reason being that they have a best friend thing going on for the longest time now. It being the reason why I love their bond so much.
Is Connie not good enough or something? Daryl and her are the way they are whether Carol was spiralling or not. They bonded and got close because they work well together and have this type of connection he doesn't share with others. He genuinely cares about her and that would have happened regardless of him and Carol having a falling out. Sometimes friends go through a rough patch. That's a thing. And they're friendship is being tested heavily, because of something Carol's going through that relates to the main storyline.
It's NOT because Connie and Daryl might go canon.
Nah Yvette, get out of here with that bullshit.
