Poster 51, 2020. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind doesn’t open to the public for a couple of weeks at Epcot but my Florida teammates have already given it amazing reviews across the board! Here’s the Epcot 40th anniversary version of the poster that I was lucky enough to work on alongside Imagineering. Visual inspiration came from classic Disney attraction posters for Tomorrowland with a bit of a modern finish to the elements. The most challenging part was figuring out how to illustrate the ride vehicles that rotate independently as they zoom along the track. To help, I was able to take the 3D model of one of the vehicles and rotate it around to mimic how they would be positioned in relation to each other then use each one to sketch out the full set. Music plays a huge part in the experience and I didn’t wanna do anything cheesy or over-the-top to represent it so I snuck in a little 80’s nod to music within Starlord’s lenses. I love the Guardians series of films so this one was such a blast to work on!
