An Introduction to SYNTH and its Leaders
SYNTH is a Vocaloid-themed Idol Group formed in 2025 by co-leaders Vesperine (Rin) and Lucien (Len), fulfilling a longtime dream of the pair to have a group of like-minded Vocaloid enjoyers to dance and perform with!
We have both been Vocaloid fans for almost as long as we can remember, and mostly self-taught dancers the same. For many years long before we met, we spent hours teaching ourselves Vocaloid dances and wishing to have more like-minded people to dance with us! Finally meeting in high school, we got the opportunity to briefly dance together on occasion. However, it wasn’t until after high school that our motivation sky-rocketed as we got a taste of performing once more and wanted the opportunity to finally do what we’d been dreaming of for all those years - creating our own Vocaloid group who danced and performed like the idols we admired!
It took some time to really settle with the concept. While we had been talking about it for several years, and seriously talking about it since mid-to-late 2024, it wasn’t until February 2025 that we really made the jump. Making an Idol Group is a huge commitment for many reasons, and we needed the right people to get started.
We scouted out close friends with an interest in Vocaloid and performing, and everything seemed to click! Once we began meeting, it was clear that the group had overall similar interests and everyone was warming up! It was exciting!!
Going into this group, we had several soft rules for ourselves and the group that we wanted to employ in order to ensure that things would go smoothly. Among them was a lot of focus on the environment of the group! You can’t force a good environment, but you can foster one with the right people and the right energy, especially in times of stress or anticipation. Communication, open doors, empathy, and encouragement are all a very important part of keeping the vibes good!! It’s something that takes skill to balance alongside remaining strict with deadlines and rules, but so far so good!
While we are gearing up to Debut in just a couple days, October 4th, 2025, we actually started meeting officially as a group in March of 2025. That’s a long time ago! However, it might surprise you that we’re exactly on track to where we expected to be. We almost had an opportunity to debut as soon as August, but unfortunately that whole event fell through! (We hope to be able to work with that organizer soon, but alas! Another time!) In the end, we had been aiming for an October debut anyway to give us plenty of time as a group to get used to the idol life. It’s a lot!
Dedicating time to practicing and rehearsals regularly is time consuming, and also tiring! Not to mention even scheduling practices with that many people can be a real struggle. However, that’s where communication and a dedicated group come in, because in the end it doesn’t matter how many people you have- it’s that they’re willing to make time!
As leaders, we also take a lot of time outside of practicing to organize everything! We take care of running the social medias, applying to events, networking, editing, etc. etc. etc. It takes a LOT of time! We can’t count the number of 6+ hour days (sometimes close to 10!) we spend in order to get everything just right! Fueled by coffee bean and Dr. Pepper, we make it work and everything turns out really nice!
One of the most intimidating things is applying. When no one knows you, it can be horrifying. And when we applied, we knew we weren’t yet ready to launch our Social Medias either. So we were applying with no social media presence, audition videos filmed in a too-small dance studio rental, and a lot of confidence!
Idol Matsuri took a chance on us to allow us to debut at their event, and we are so grateful and excited for the opportunity! The night we got the acceptance email, we screamed and cried in excitement in our living room as we sent it to our group chat. It was electrifying to feel that all the hard work we had put in to be able to audition just in time was all coming together! We hope we get to experience that feeling again and again.
We went through many setlist drafts before settling on just the right one that encapsulated our group for our entry into the scene! We won’t spoil anything, but there have been some vague (and not so vague) hints and teasers throughout our posts. We hope our setlist excites both old and new Vocaloid fans alike, not to mention what we have in store coming very soon after our Debut!
We can’t wait to share everything with you guys soon. Expect many, many posts on our social medias as we collect everything from our Debut in order to show you guys what we’ve got!! All this to say, expect the occasional blog from us as we make this journey~ We hope you’ll support us all the way! <3
