I love them your honor

I absolutely love (and prefer) seeing Narinder as Baal&Aym's dad. But him NOT being their dad is INFINITELY funnier:
Imagine being Narinder
Imagine being horrifically betrayed by your siblings, and betraying them in kind
Imagine an existence in a forever-lit white void, no night or darkness to shelter in
Imagine being chained in place every second of every day
Imagine disocciating to cope with your new life
Imagine tuning BACK into reality to see your oldest sibling standing there, holding TWO WHOLE BABIES
They just say "Please don't be lonely." And LEAVE
Leaving you with
Two.
Whole.
Babies.
Whose are these?? Where did Shamura get them?!
if i'm reading this right, shamura ordered the other bishops to mutilate themselves because they needed to sacrifice their own flesh to bind narinder... that's crazyyy was it worth the sacrifice my love
Narinder, holding mewing Baal: Shamura this is a Baby.
Shamura: No.
Narinder: No?
Shamura: There are two. [Sets down Aym and evaporates way]
Narinder: No, wait-
Imagine Narinder trying to raise Baal and Aym while he is Literally Chained In Place.
Especially when they're little toddlers wanting to explore everything
Imagine he literally uses unwanted offerings/weaponds/etc from old failed vessels to create "barriers" to prevent runaway kitten debacles
Imagine babies learning how to climb in desire to get OVER the kitten obstacles
Imagine Narinder LITERALLY SENDING old vessels on missions to get baby-appropriate things as offerings because someone (Shamura) presented Only Kittens and no Solutions
Heck, imagine him trying to explain to toddler kits what the "outside world" is because they sure as fuck don't have clear memories of it
Imagine him spending every day half-worried Shamura will appear with another child
I will dip my toe into (Modern AU) Narilamb for one thing, and one thing only:
Lamb and the twins trying to handle the situation of Baal and Aym being adults but still working for their father, and the Lamb being their new step-parent and working closely with their father
I'm talking awkward car rides to the office
3-way silence when someone asks what the boys' relationship is to the Lamb
The fumbling any time family photos are discussed
Aym keeping an aggressive distance but sometimes, in a rare quiet moment, he'll let his true vulnerabilities show and he'll be able to connect with the Lamb in at least one brief moment
One of them saying "thanks, Dad/[parental term]" on their way out of the car and the Lamb full on mental restarts with joy
Aym getting them a wedding present but it's a grocery store cake with just "You are Married now." written on it in red frosting
Forneus and the Lamb bring besties who meet up on Saturdays for brunch, and to talk about Narinder & the boys
"Aym: you're not my mom!
Lamb, #1 Forneus supporter: naturally. If there were two of her, her awesomeness would explode the world!
Aym: wot"
Thinking about modern!Kallamar as a doctor
In a "should have his license revoked" kind of way
In my AU, Narinder had a different reaction to Lamb usurping him
Largely because while Lamb had always done what they were told, never once did they give the impression of OBEDIENCE. It was more like "Well that sounds like it might bring me closer to where I wanna go, so may as well go on that crusade" + "If I don't I'll probably die, so okay".
So the guy who could not have possibly given less of a fuck trying to usurp him, and also was clearly very in love with Narinder's brother, in hopes of having the power to revive said brother? Yeaaaah. Not a surprise
But also the fact Leshy was "dead" was clearly pushing Lamb further and further to the edge, so when Narinder was defeated... he didn't mind being recruited as much. Because either he could be a voice of reason and experience that could sway Lamb from causing too much damage, or they snapped and didn't have their mind intact for very long, in which Narinder could nab back that power
And when Leshy was brought back as a mortal... well. It's not like Narinder CARED about either of them or anything. It's not like he was trying to be the older voice of reason and experience to stop their dynamic from exploding and taking out themselves and everyone else. Definitely not
Obviously (/sarc)
So yeah he definitely not "recruited" more willingly, and stayed for a number of pretty good reasons
He's also a major player in the way Leshy and Lamb actually got to start talking to each other. Not necessarily because he wanted to, but because the Lamb at least is willing to listen entirely to his opinions, even if they refuse to do what he wants in the end. So he was really the best option when it came to get this pining mf to say or do something
