I've seen so many family's having fun in the sea this weekend and as I've been re-reading the Charlie Bone books, I wanted combine the two into a drawing of Charlie and Henry by the sea enjoying their holiday at the end of the 2nd book. I don't always find myself feeling inspired enough to try a fill illustration and it was intresting trying to get the effect I wanted with the usually very simply and cartoon scribbly pens I use most of the time. I'm happy enough with the outcome although some work to do on my shading/creating depth skills.

I only ever had the first book (Midnight for Charlie Bone) as a kid, but Charlie's uncle Paton was always my fave. Possessor of a very destructive power, nocturnal recluse turned father figure for a magic 10-year-old, and super intense about his history books (and a certain bookseller)...what's not to like?
