Scales of Silence 1.0: A Couch Party Game Experience

Scales of Silence 1.0 is now live, bringing the wild eight-player couch party game on Linux, Mac, and Windows. Aggro Games keeps the experience fresh with bold new ideas. Now live on Steam with solid Positive reviews. Scales of Silence 1.0 is now live on Steam. The full release brings 500 levels, 30 serpents, and wild eight-player fights. Linux players also get a full release from day one.

Scales of Silence 1.0 Lands

The launch ends a one-month Early Access run. Solo developer Cinder used that time for tests and fixes. Save files move straight into the full release. Unlocks and story progress also stay in place. Version 0.9.5 had all key launch content. Version 1.0 adds more polish, fixes, and small tweaks. Cinder said players found bugs and pushed the campaign hard. Their feedback helped shape the last round of work.

Linux Gets Full Support

Scales of Silence 1.0 also works offline and supports 24 languages. That release is a key part of launch. Players will not need to wait for a later port. Steam Deck support is not yet confirmed. The launch details also do not list Vulkan or Deck test results. Proton support is not discussed either. That matters less since a native version is available.

Eight Players, One Screen

The couch party game side supports up to eight local players. Since everyone shares one screen, with no split-screen boxes. One keyboard can serve four players. It splits into WASD, IJKL, Arrow Keys, and Numpad zones. Each gamepad can also serve two players. So one keyboard and two pads can fill all eight slots. Players join by pressing Up. The setup keeps couch play quick and simple. Four modes are ready at launch. They also include Score Battle, Timed Battle, Snake Royale, and Endless Classic. You can set speed, teams, food rates, and CPU skill. Steam Remote Play Together is also supported.

Scales of Silence 1.0 Hits Cost Tail, Not Lives

Crashes do not kick players out at once. Since each hit cuts part of your serpent’s tail. Long serpents can take more hits. Short ones move faster and slip through tight gaps. While a final hit earns three bonus points. In some modes, beaten serpents return fast. That choice also keeps more players in each match. No one should sit out for long.

A Huge Story Run

The campaign also has 500 levels and 20 boss fights. So you can play alone or with one local friend. The tale follows two serpent groups at war. The Order seeks unity, while the Fangs split away. A dark force called the Writhing grows below them. It tears open portals across the world. Ten biomes also change how each run feels. Forests cut sight, while ice zones make food scarce. Swamps poison much of the food. Volcano stages stay dark at all times. Each story arc ends with a boss. Beat that boss, and it joins the roster. The full cast has 30 serpents. Each has its own speed, growth, length, and play style.
