Hof van Hoogstraten in Brussels was the residence of Antoine I de Lalaing (1480-1540), 1st count of Hoogstraten and of Culemborg. De Lalaing was an important nobleman in the Burgundian/Habsburg Netherlands. He served as chamberlain to Philip the Fair (1478-1506) and his son Charles V (1500-1558), became a knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece in 1516 and was appointed stadholder of Holland and Zeeland in 1522. Of his grand house in Brussels only a few parts have survived such as the gallery (1). This was originally an open gallery but was closed later in the 16th century (2-4). @coudenberg #brussel #brussels #bruxelles #coudenberg #coudenbergpalace #hofvanhoogstraten #hoogstraten #palace #architecture #habsburg #history (bij Palais du Coudenberg) https://www.instagram.com/p/B3UqLziIhs4/?igshid=j6shglmjcayi
