I've never really been a part of a fandom before, I've had things I've loved but I've always kind of hidden myself away from other fans because I'm shy and scared of what people will think of me.
But I'm proud to be a part of the SPN fandom. Why? Why is this suddenly different? Because this series, these people, the actors and the fans, are some of the best people in the world.
The cast don't just show up, film and go home. They're friends, family, they have fun together and they enjoy their lives and their work. And instead of distancing themselves from their fans they embrace us - figuratively and literally - and our love for them and their work.
But what tops it all off is that they are good people. Look at what Misha Collins is doing with Random Acts, or Osric Chau offering a lunch date to raise money for a fan whose home was flooded. Just two examples, I'm sure there are many, many more.
This fandom, these actors, these people make me want to be a better person. Seeing the fans pull together to do amazing things restores my faith in humanity. Seeing the cast choosing to promote this positive attitude is so wonderful and so rare. Can you imagine how much we could accomplish if all celebrities chose to walk this path of inspiration? How many people would follow?
That's why SPN is so different for me. That's why I will defend this fandom and why I embrace each and every one of you. I love you all deeply and from the bottom of my heart because you inspire me, all of you from the entire cast to the newest fan, to do what is right regardless of the reason. And above all to be loving, accepting and happy.
Sorry to ramble on so much, but I just had to say all this. I know it's silly and probably makes no sense and if you get all the way to the bottom here then you should have a cookie or something, but that's how I feel and I wanted to share it with you all.
Thank you for being an awesome fandom I can be proud of being a part of. Thank you for inspiring me to be a better person. Thank you for making me happy just for being able to feel connected to you all. Thank you so much. I love you all.
