Do you like Rune Factory 4? So do I! And I got my brother at least into the soundtrack and we both agreed that we would cover a few songs from said soundtrack.

So this is me working on a piano/violin reduction and once you get the hang of this song, it is reeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaally fun to play (same can’t be said for the actual dungeon, sadly, but the music still rocks). Not done with it yet, but it’s going to be awesome once I am done (especially if we can get a decent recording with my dad’s upright).

The call and response between piaon and violin was actually my brother’s idea, and I thought “this is cool, it means I’m not just playing chords the whole time!” And since it’s a reduction, I can play around with the arrangement however I want...

I transposed the song up a couple of keys because I hate playing in Eb minor (the original key) and one of the pianos in the house doesn’t have a functional A4 key (and guess what becomes a vital note to this song in E minor--that’s right, A4....uuuuuggggghhhh). So...F minor. Actually sounds pretty good in this key anyway.

I went back and forth on whether or not I wanted to post this, but then I thought...yes! Let’s post it!

It’s not the most interesting song ever, but it is catchy, and pretty chill, and I like it. I think it was supposed to have lyrics at one point in time, but...those are lost to time and space now, soooooo...whoops to that, I guess? That’s alright, they were probably really cheesy and meant for one of my OTP’s anyway, so...not sharing that awful part of me today. (and you have to have at least level 7 friendship to hear me sing because...ugh)

Anyway, chill out and enjoy! And I know it’s the middle of August, but if you happen to live in a part of the word where there are flowering trees and it’s windy, put this on while you watch that (I’d say cherry blossoms, but those are objectively out of season)

Just a quick, silly thing. Even as a kid, I always really liked the sanctuary theme from A Link to the Past; now the song is pretty much synonymous with childhood for me. And one day I decided “You know, I wonder what this would sound like with a little more modern technology?” So plopped it down in my sequencer and mixed it on a chorus track and...yeah. Not too bad, though I think I still like the original song better…

So yeah, I don’t know what to do with this so here you go. Have a little Zelda in your life. (drops file on dash)

I’m sorry, I know I’m supposed to be a Responsible Working Adult about my compositions, but I cannot erase the image of two abstract anime idiots fighting in the piano roll and I’m starting to bust up...XD

Did you think this was going to be a 100% serious portfolio blog? If so...I’m sorry to disappoint, but I am physically incapable of being serious all the time...l.o

I thought I already put this in my queue but I can’t find it there or on my page so I’m just going to assume that my queue box ate it and queue it again.

So this would be the main theme for a space colony game I’d like to make eventually. Not anytime soon, because I already have two game projects going and I have work and school (and getting back into chorus soon if I’m lucky), but one day.

So the idea of this song is that I wanted to show off space in song. Like space looks really cluttered from our frame of view but it’s actually really spacious. Similarly, this song probably sounds complex because I have a few melodies going on at once, but it’s actually pretty simple once you lay it down (counterpoint is fun :D). Also mystery because we don’t know crap about space when it really comes down to it (or it seems that way sometimes, at least). And then a time dilation joke that started as a mistake but I ran with because...eh, it added a cool dimension to the song.

If I ever make a farm sim/town sim game, this is a song that will definitely pop up in it (in the morning, if you can believe it). And unlike most of the stuff in my queue at the moment, it’s not really sci-fi. It’s nice and ambient, though, and I’m actually really happy with how this one turned out.

So just take a sec to chill out, yeah? It’s not necessarily interesting, but it’s definitely relaxing!

I like playing around with sci-fi ish songs from time to time, so here’s one of them. Mostly I just liked the way that pad sounded, threw down some chords on it, and went from there, but hey, it sounds pleasant enough
