18.02.21. Another long day in the lab. As a little perk we got a nice sunny evening (it's been really gloomy lately), and I stayed in the institute until late keeping an eye on some experiments and watching Perseverance land on Mars. (Or rather, watching a bunch of NASA scientists watch some pings arrive with an 11-minute delay saying that it has landed... Still, really cool. I called everyone who was still in the lab to watch the last few minutes together - a good reminder that, despite everything, science is still cool.)

And we have photos. ⁣ ⁣ Less than a day after the Perseverance Mars rover landed on the surface of the Red Planet, mission teams at @NASAJPL released the first photos of the rover’s descent as well as its first views from its new home in Jezero Crater.⁣ ⁣ The images, from left to right:⁣ ⁣ - High-resolution image aboard the descent stage captured Perseverance being lowered by its skycrane⁣ - Perseverance’s first full-color image of Mars sent back by the rover’s Hazard Cameras on the spacecraft’s underside⁣ - A look at one of the rover’s six large wheels on the Martian soil⁣ - The descent stage holding Perseverance falls through the Martian atmosphere as seen by the @UAHiRISE camera aboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter⁣ ⁣ A primary objective for Perseverance’s mission on Mars is astrobiology research, including the search for signs of ancient microbial life. ANIMATION / PRINT CONTEMPORARY PRACTICE

I was looking at Paula Schers work and I got an inspiration to make my poster different. There was lots of cutting involved, editing in photoshop, arranging and finding the right colours. I am using the image from making Gelli plates workshop for the astronaut. Overall, I am very pleased with the result.
