I finished another pattern, and it's in my shop for $1 now. I can't wait to stitch this one after I'm done with the Swan and Viburnum pieces. It's arguably my favorite I've created so far.
The design was inspired by several examples of Romanian embroideries available on plate 42 of 'Motive der hausindustriellen stickerei in der Bukowina' (Specimen embroideries of the home-based industry in Bucovina).
I’ve completed the first quadrant of my recreation of a 19th century Karelian embroidery.
Here is a rough mock-up of what it will look like completed:
I’m planning on it being part of a larger piece that I’ll use at the solstices.
Finally done with the wine colored part of the pattern (except for a small border). So many tears. 😝
I think my poor brain just wanted to do cross stitch, because this is SUCH a cross stitch motif, and kept doing things just slightly wrong.

Midsummer Sampler Day 7
These solar symbols are found everywhere in Baltic folk art.
I got a second folk pattern charted the same day I did the "Folk Spring" piece. This time for the Swan piece that I've been stitching in simulated gradient. It's also for sale on my Ko-Fi as well, for $1.
This was one of the harder ones I was working on because I chose to stitch it in a simulated gradient at first, which turned out to be much more fiddly that I'd've liked. I switched to proper gradient thread after charting the pattern, and proceeded with the fully charted design rather than trying to wing it together like I was.
It's looking so much better now.
I spent most of my time away from this blog charting out patterns.
The first I did was the "Spring" folk embroidery piece I made as my first ever cross stitch. There were a lot of corrections that needed to be made to the pattern as I charted it, since I winged the original very heavily. But I got it done, and it's now for sale in my Ko-Fi Shop for $1.
