I got the voice recordings done yesterday at the studio. Here's a behind-the-scenes video. Now comes the fun part of taking 4 audio files, each 60 minutes long, and editing out the garbage. After that comes the even more fun part of spending 300+ hours animating. Yayyyy...
Found a Recording Studio
I want to get high quality audio for this project, so I'm going to rent a recording studio for the voice-overs. After some research, I decided on Coupe Studios off Valmont. They said that for the setup I need, it'll cost me $85 an hour at the student rate. I'm going to have all my voice actors meet sometime in the next couple of nights to go over lines and perfect it all so that we can get in and out of there as quickly as possible. I'm going to try and only pay for 2 hours. I went on a little tour of the place and their recording studio is pro. They have the fancy room behind glass with all the knobs and such where I can push a button and my voice actors can't hear what I'm saying. Then I can bust out of the room demanding more cowbell.
Booked a VO session at Coupe Studios
Remember when I got that callback audition while I was out playing hooky on the slopes last week? Well the agency called and said the client picked me! I was thrilled until I heard the words, "We'll go ahead and schedule the phone patch session..."
Phone patch?? My little studio can't do a phone patch.
Not wanting to miss out on the opportunity, I asked some friends for a studio referral, and every one of them sent me to Coupe Studios in Boulder. I've know about Coupe for a long time, but until now I never really had a reason to seek them out. Fully phone-patch-equipped, I'm booked to record there next week and I can't wait! It looks fancy :)
