one broke down in cuckoo's nest
(courier Sinclair and two of his common outifts. he has his own special paralyzing palm and takedown thanks to his electron charge pack powered prosthetic)
matching lone wanderer Ace
Hand in hand, come human error and plain bad luck It seems the timing's always wrong for the ones who wait too long You'll never catch a break, you'll have to make your own
or the end of Sinclair's terrible, horrible, no good, very bad time at Big M.T.
found this old thirst trap with lobotomite Sinclair and realised that i holds up pretty well (even tho his design has shifted a bit ever since)
+bonus little comic redraw of a classic with my first attempt at vault-boy kind of stylization (and Sinclair's more recent design)
(getting back to it) LW Ace and Courier Sinclair wasteland fashion show WIPs
had a low-energy weekend but still wanted to draw so here's a lil' Sinclair enjoying his favorite dessert snack - canned peaches (and he only cut his hand a little bit while opening them!)
1. A Rainy Day in the Desert: Where does your character go? Do they enjoy the rain? What does it smell like to them? Do they splash in puddles?
Courier Sinclair's response
1) Typically, Sinclair tries to find shelter in places that feel like home to him; The Mojave outpost, the modified utility room he put together right outside of Vault 21, or a ranger station.
2) He doesn't really enjoy the rain much at all. It's an unusual occurrence in the Mojave, and it was only slightly more common in New Reno. He dislikes it partially due to how foreign it feels to him, even after his 40 years of living in the West he could never fully adjust to it. That being said, he does enjoy seeing Ace's clear enjoyment when rain does roll through.
3) To Sinclair, rain smells like rust. This is mostly because of the association with the scent of the dampened shacks and broken down Old World vehicles around the Mojave. Makes his nose twitch.
4) No, Sinclair doesn't play in puddles. He doesn't mind getting dirty in most respects, but hates the feeling of mud on his clothes, or any that may just hop up and get on his exposed skin. He also worries any excess mud or water could damage his bionic arm.
Lone Wanderer Ace's response
1a) Ace isn't horribly opposed to traversing in the rain. When they explored the Capital wasteland, they could go quite a while in the rain, but eventually might seek some shelter in a welcoming settlement if they can find one. Depending on where they're closest to, they may stay in Rivet City, The Underworld, or hide out in Gob's tavern.
1b) Once Ace ends up in the Mojave during their travels, they're willing to seek more immediate shelter as to assuage Sinclair. Though they would normally be a little more stubborn, this is something they wouldn't argue with Sinclair about - it's a waste of energy.
2) In stark contrast, our Lone Wanderer enjoys the rain! It's more common on the East Coast, and upon their first exposure to it, they found it pretty refreshing. They still enjoy it just as much in the Mojave, despite its infrequent appearance.
3) To them, rain smells like fresh grass for the most part. It reminds them that there is still life able to thrive in the wasteland, so the smell is quite pleasant to them.
4) No, Ace does not enjoy playing in puddles. Similar to Sinclair, they don't want any mud to end up on them; they're significantly more bothered when it comes to getting dirty, differing from Sinclair.
