I’d really love to do an au where Amelia actually dies at the battle of the department of mysteries, whether she runs into the veil that Sirius falls through or gets killed by a death eater due to her lack of experience with magic (especially compared to everyone else, even the students). Of course, this would mean this type of thread could only really be done with someone talking to Amelia through the resurrection stone or her interacting with those who have already passed away (or can talk to the dead), but it is an idea I wouldn't mind trying out. In fact, I was/sorta am still tempted to make an au verse for it.
