A father without his child is no man at all, a ruined one if any. The yearn for your child that is out of grasp as you cry hoping for their return. That was how Vegas felt the day Chayanne had run away, and how he feels now with it still being gone. A piece of him was missing, and he could not help but remember past memories of loved ones before xis sweet child.

“My only sunshine”
A dark room with a simple night light in the corner just enough to see a innocent smile come from his duckling's face as they sung her a sweet lullaby, hands strumming on a small ukulele with the comforting singing tone. In that moment there was no fear, no negative emotions in the man's body to take over him. Just them and his baby duck.
“You make me happy”
Soon the song came to an end and the man leaned over to ruffle his kids head. “Alright little duck, I think it’s about time for bed don’t you think?” Vegas asked with a small chuckle as he could already hear her whines and complaints. “Oh come on dear, what do you think your papa would think if I keep him waiting?”Another whine came out of her duckling's mouth but soon a nod.
“When skies are gray”
The man was about to leave heading towards the door when the child spoke once more. “Dada can I get a kiss before bed..?” She looked up, almost giving what most parents would call ‘puppy eyes’ but she didn’t have to ask twice. Vegas walked back over cupping his duckling's sweet face and leaning down giving her a small kiss on the head. “Goodnight, sweetheart.”
“You’ll never know. Dear”
A smile came to his face, if it would have been up to her he would have slept the entire night in his ducklings room just to keep her safe and happy. A sweet hum came out of his mouth as he headed down the hallway and to him and his husband's room flopping down on the other side of the mattress next to xis already sleeping lover. “Goodnight, mi amor..” and as he turned onto his side he fell asleep.
“How much I love you”
That night slot had woken up to a pit of smoke and a scream for his name from his duckling.
“Please don't take, My sunshine away”

Days upon days of walking around this town Vegas had learned two important details upon the area. That many bad things were known to happen around these towns in the area, including deaths and that a festival was coming up. A festival seemed like the very thing to entice Chayanne, he always liked games and competitions. Especially if there were prizes too, there was no way the kid would miss that. At least Vegas hoped so. Vegas was so off put about coming to this festival, as much as he wanted to find Chayanne he didn’t want to interrupt the fun with his mess of being a parent. Xe decided slot would keep it on the downlow and act as any other guest of the party. No one really liked making a scene at parties, even if a missing kid was extremely important, especially with all the troubles Chayanne tended to get itself into.
The night of the festival after many different thoughts upon it, Vegas became more worried about Chayanne than anything and decided to go. It was a slight walk from where Vegas was camping, especially since he got lost but eventually they found her way to the area. There were crowds of people, especially kids. A few times Vegas had mistaken a few of them for Chayanne leading to a few awkward situations. Everything was so overstimulating.
Still Vegas would not let himself continue to feel down about it. They simply would have to keep looking, surely the duck hybrid would find his little duck somewhere. As Vegas remembered an old thought he thought it would be best to take a look at the games and see if the kid was there. Walking up to the first one xe saw a man standing at it. The man had curly brown hair with flowers speckled throughout it, they were charming to say the least and for that one moment his curiosity peaked on something other than her missing child. “Hello there? Do you know how to play this game?” The man asked, walking up to the stand to see the man clearly holding a bow. “Uhh I do! Basically you just hit the targets! Hit all three and you get a prize!” The man's voice was comforting, so soft and had a slight accent that Vegas could not really pick up on. “A prize you say? Any certain one you are going for?” Xe asked curiously. “The polar bear, it looks quite silly!” The man replied with a light smile pointing at it in the prize display at the back of the stand. “You?” Vegas scanned the plush toys on the rack before his eyes landed on one of the duck plushies; it even had a silly suit. “Uhh the duck one! Haha matches me most one would say” A small flap of Vegas’ wings as he spoke about the kids toy. The man simply hummed before hitting all the targets with each shot he took. When the stranger was asked what prize they wanted he replied with “The little duck one with the suit” A small grin falling on the man's face. Vegas’ face grew hot at the kind gesture as once it was given to the stranger they gave it to him. “Thank you, looks like I have something to win for then.”
The duck hybrid stood up into the middle of the standing area of the stand taking a bow and three arrows as it was now his turn. He had not shot from a bow in what felt like years. Still with each shot landed on the middle of the target earning Vegas a little “Yes” as he pumped his arms in victory like a kid. “The polar bear please!” Once handed to him he handed it to the stranger with a small grin of his own. “Oh! Thank you!” With a small nod Vegas headed off the game booth and looked back at the stranger who began to speak once more. “My name is Wilbur by the way, I just recently moved into the area, maybe someday we will see each other again?” Vegas thought for a moment before nodding once more. “You might, I travel quite a lot so I do not know how long I will be here, but if you ever hear the name Vegas it’s probably me. Hopefully we meet again on maybe less.. Childish circumstances even if the games are fun haha” Xe said before waving and walking away back on the lookout for his child.
Vegas was not able to find Chayanne that night, but he couldn’t get the man he had met at the festival out of their mind. So nice compared to all the negative things xe had heard about these areas. It only made them more curious about the town. Still everything felt missing without their kid, longing for the hope that she was okay. Vegas had fallen asleep that night right when he got back to their tent, she wouldn’t admit it but she had fallen asleep holding the little duck plush that was given. What can he say? It was warm.
