#DOH reports 623 new cases today January 5 bringing the total nationwide caseload to 4,138,564 cases. ⬆️

NCR accounted for 27% (166) of the country's cases while 457 (73%) of the day's cases are in the provinces.
In the NCR, six LGUs had double-digit cases: Quezon City 43, Makati 21, Caloocan 19, Pasig and Parañaque with 15 each and Manila 13. Eleven LGUs had low single digits cases.
Outside the NCR, thirteen provinces had double-digit cases: Iloilo 51 (Iloilo City 15), Cebu 31 (Cebu City 13), Laguna 25, Cavite and Rizal with 24 each, Albay and Misamis Oriental with 21 each, Bulacan, Isabela and Davao del Sur with 17 each, Camarines Sur 11 (Naga City 4), Benguet and Cagayan with 10 each. All other provinces had low single digit cases or ZERO COVID.
8 deaths due to COVID-19 reported today. The total number of coronavirus fatalities increased to 66,856. ⬆️
The active cases increased to 5,822 from the 5,491 yesterday's active cases. The active cases of more than 5,000 mark were breached in July 2023.
The national positivity rate is at 19.7%. ⬆️
The healthcare utilization rate remains at low risk.
