What I fear most regarding a colonoscopy likely shouldn't be so intimidating. The powerful laxatives aren't as overwhelming as described; halfway through the prep, I haven't felt dehydrated or experienced significant cramping. Furthermore, the taste isn't even bittersweet.

​It is true that the procedure itself can cause anxiety regarding vulnerability, the risk of bowel perforation, or the possibility of missing a polyp, but I remain hopeful that these risks are minimal.

Naturally, the most concerning factors are cardiopulmonary complications—where sedation might lead to respiratory depression, low blood pressure, or heart rhythm issues. However, these risks are greatly mitigated by the Cardiopulmonary Clearance required prior to the procedure.
