he hates every minute of defending coachen but it’s either that or he loses miles. and as a fail-safe, the apartment videotape is still stolen and the acquittal still happens. miles is returned half-starved but otherwise unharmed, but also pissed at his dad for choosing him over the truth.

greg’s faith in the legal system would have to be shaken pretty damn hard for him to take up vigilantism, but between this and all the bullshit that VK got away with during IS-7? that would do it. he goes to badd and byrne and he’s in.

How do they see themselves: as smart, as intelligent, uneducated?          mind you, apollo doesn’t think he’s dumb; he just suffers from a Crippling Feeling Of Constant Inadequacy, which mostly leads to him underestimating himself intellectually. he knows deep in his heart that he’s smart. deep deep deep.

How does their education and intelligence – or lack thereof - reflect in their speech pattern, vocabulary, and pronunciations?         apollo speaks really formally, but doesn’t use exceptionally big or complicated words; he talks like how someone would write an essay, which is kind of how it’s all reflected? 

13. Did they like school? Teachers? Schoolmates?        he really liked school! he really loves learning but also hated the stress around it, which is why he’ll give a hard pass if anyone asks if he’d relive it. most of what he remembers of his schoolmates are girls asking him to give their love letters to clay hahaha

Brow crease with concern as he stands before Neil Marshall’s home. It had been a few months since the verdict had been handed down in his trial. It had been ‘Not Guilty’, of course, but such a verdict didn’t mean that all of a defendant’s issues magically disappeared into thin air.

Phoenix was well aware of how much a single case could affect a person for an entire lifetime.

“Mr. Marshall...? Are you home?” A glance down at the text he had received around forty-five minutes ago. He knocks on the door again, his worry rising with each moment he had to wait for an answer.

☩: Your muse is doing some intense spring cleaning. What is easy for them to throw out, and what is difficult for them to part with?

Miles:

 doesn’t have much, to be honest. Not that he doesn’t have money to buy weird useless things, it’s just that there is no clutter. He lived in a perfectly uncluttered house with MVK, so there’s nothing really for him to clean out. It kind of became habit.

It’s easy for him to throw out things that feel completed. He has no attachment to prior case files, or records of any cases that aren’t the cases that he’s currently working on.

it’s difficult for him to throw out clothing. It means a lot to him, as does all of his Steel Samurai merchandise.

Lana:

it struck me that in Gant’s office she left the picture of herself and Ema face down on the shelf. How sad, to think that Ema went in there that day and must have realized that it had been there for two years.

But of course, she left it behind because she was trying to leave everything behind. It’s easy to leave everything behind if you’re embarrassed by how naive you were once.

It’s more difficult for her to throw out trinkets, though. Things like her scarf and any gifts she was given. She’s a practical person, for the most part, though, so if something breaks, out it goes. She won’t get sentimental over something that’s not working any more.

Miles. All of that energy he has comes from caffeine and perfectionism.

Brings up adopting a pet

Miles has a pet. Phoenix is the one who keeps picking up strays though. (Usually they are human children.)

Kills the bugs

Miles. Phoenix waxes poetic about taking a life that isn’t hurting you.

Cooks the meals

Miles probably can’t cook very well at first (you don’t dress like Manfred von Karma and expect your children to ever spend time in a kitchen), but ends up enjoying it when he does get the hang of it, and of course he wants to eat Really Good Food All The Time. Phoenix wants to eat cheap homecooked food and does that pretty well.

Starts getting into holidays way before they should

It is canon that Miles helped to make a CHOCOLATE SCULPTURE OF PHOENIX for VALENTINE’S DAY. Miles buys any presents for anyone months in advance. 

Initiates the couple selfies

Ohhh nooooooo

The thing is, Phoenix went all out cute couple with Dahlia--like that is who Phoenix is, before anyone hurt him. He would have worn a big pink heart shaped sweater and called his significant other a dumb nickname. He was so, so so happy.

He doesn’t ask to take a couple selfie. He doesn’t ask to do anything cute. How can you do that when the last person you felt that way about looked you in the eye and said you were pathetic and they despised you and every minute of that, even when you know it wasn’t really them, later on? It’s amazing how sweet Phoenix is at all.

Miles holds up his phone and very seriously and deliberately takes a selfie of the two of them. Miles sets it as his own phone background. Phoenix cries a little bit and Miles can’t figure out why.

Forgets the birthdays and anniversaries

Phoenix. Miles ends up working on those days though, which is not so good either, because he didn’t even forget.

Always ends up with too much junk food after grocery shopping

Miles. Phoenix is the cheap one and doesn’t want to spend money on it.

Nicknames the other

“Phoenix“ and “Miles“ feel like nicknames after a lifetime of calling each other “Edgeworth“ and “Wright.“

Actually though, once they’re comfortable around each other, I bet Miles picks up on “Nick.” It would be hard not to, with Maya and Pearl and Larry calling him “Nick” all the time. He’d absentmindedly use it in conversations without Phoenix there, while talking to them, and he’d be like “I am never going to call him that to his face EVER” but then he does do it one time with Phoenix there, because he’s talking to Maya or Pearl about Phoenix, and Phoenix hears and is sort of obviously pleased about it, and Miles is horribly embarrassed, and then it slips out at home a couple of months later, and over the next year or so it gradually creeps in because Phoenix seems to like it.

It’s a strange nickname because it’s definitely the family nickname for him. Like, it’s not what Miles calls him when they’re alone, he still calls him Phoenix mostly (and sometimes Wright depending on his mood). But it’s definitely the point where they kind of pass from being boyfriends to being family.
