Just spoken with the Bureau of Meteorology in #Melbourne and so far as the #CoxPlateCarnival2020 goes punters, participants and organisers may have dodged a sizeable bullet in regards to the weather. Originally earlier on in the week it was being forecast up to 40mm could fall on Friday and in excess of 20mm on Saturday - That’d just about be enough to see a standard meeting washed out! But thankfully those figures have been revised as you can see in the illustrations. For anyone doing their form on the two days of racing at @thevalleyracecourse, my suggestion is to work on the track being a Soft (5) for Friday night’s #ManikatoStakes2020 and work around the track being a Soft (7) / Heavy (8) for the #CoxPlate100. Thankfully the really heavy precipitation that’s anticipated Friday night isn’t expected until after the races and into Saturday, but the down side of course is 15-20mm of rain with a maximum temperature of 12 degrees Saturday with isolated scattered showers around means the #CoxPlate100 will certainly be run on very soft ground. Let’s hope it’s a 7 or 8 - not down into the 9 and 10 range. #horseracingglobal #melbourneweather #coxplate #mooneevalleyfestival #coxplatecarnival2020 #horseracing #horseracingglobaltips #horseracingtips #wscoxplate #coxplate2020 #wet (at Moonee Valley Racing Club) https://www.instagram.com/p/CGnounFpdn5/?igshid=14kgapum78epy
