I watched her, decorated among the cherry blossoms with hues of pinks and creams. A smile so carefree and enchanted as if life’s worries meant nothing to her; a face that emitted a glow almost of something surreal. A throb in my chest spoke to me in whispers – I was smitten for an angel that lost her wings just to fall upon me.

“I’ve closed off these spaces to the ones that I believed would hurt me as swiftly and calculated as the next assassin,” she said, “but with you it’s as though everything came crashing down,” she paused with a soft gasp, the air in her lungs hesitating to relinquish what she needed to continue. “with you I let myself be cut and I bled over and over again,” she said. “with you I continued to be vulnerable even when all you did was burn my walls and throw dirt onto my streets. I allowed you to deplete me of my sources where all that was left was a barren wasteland and and still,” she took a longer silence. “I still forced a flower to grow just to show you there was still something here for you to take.”
